Can a cleric use Create Undead usefully?

Not if they want to remain good clerics, anyways. :)

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

If WotC came to Salinas and stood outside my house, wearing trenchcoats and holding boom boxes over their heads, while they play Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes", I would immediately go buy stuff from them. After the video was uploaded to YouTube, that is. Sure, they could do other things - PDFs...

What Makes Gaming Books as PDFs Desirable?

With a tiny thumb drive and a laptop/netbook/tablet, I can carry an entire game line with me without breaking my back. If there's a computer wherever I'm going, I can even skip the laptop/etc., and just bring a couple of ounces of flash memory. Way easier than trying to bring 4 or 5 hardback...

12 year old girls love, 20+ year old people hate

I remember plenty of boy band (NSync, Backstreet Boys, etc.) bashing. I probably contributed some. :) The hot teen idol-ish pop stars have always been bashed, as far back as I remember. Disco got steamrollered. Miley Cyrus's dad was ridiculed. I don't recall having seen anything particularly...

    Tales From the Table 2010

I was GMing GURPS once, many moons ago, and the PCs were investigating . . . something. I don't even remember which campaign it was any more, just that it was late, both in game and in real life. Something disturbed the neighborhood dogs, or the supernatural pack began to hunt, or both. So I...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 monk...lawful = disciplined?

FWIW, I think the original monk class was written because someone wanted to play Remo Williams in D&D. If you go through the monk's original class features, they compare remarkably well to the various abilities Remo learns through the various Destroyer books. Add a sprinkling of Kwai Chang...

12 year old girls love, 20+ year old people hate

Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Bros., N'Sync, Britney, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Debbie whatshername, Menudo, Madonna . . . you can probably run the line all the way back to the Monkees, if not the Beatles and Elvis, I imagine. Who knows, maybe Sinatra and Crosby...

    Has Lovecraft become required reading?

Early '80s, FWIW. Magician came out in 1982. I think it probably got published because of the surging interest in fantasy (as opposed to being part of the basis for that surge), but I have no idea about that. Edit: I do remember there being lots of fantasy books out for me to read as a kid, what...

    Making a wish

As an example of Umbran's warning -- you say "anytime i see fit for as long as I see fit". So, you're cruising along, controlling the nightwalker, and everything is fine. Then someone hits you with a spell or effect, and you are blinded or even merely dazzled, for one measly round. Guess what...

    The New "Face" of Gaming...

So if Bieber of Jonas is going to be the new "Face" of gaming, who will be the new "Hannibal" of gaming? The new "Murdock"? The new "B.A."?

    Needleworkers campaign

I'd go with giving free skill points, and maybe one bonus feat. Or draw up a list of feats that you can somehow relate to needlework, and give them bonus feats, but only from that list. In other news: I can finally give Dannyalcatraz XP again -- do I use it now, or save it for something even...

The Once and Future King, by T.H. White.

    Lolth's appearance

I'm not convinced you can have a picture of a spider with a humanoid head and have it not look goofy. Ergo, drider-like. :)

Looking for a Good First Timer RPG

I'd suggest something that you are familiar and comfortable with. If you know Aftermath! like the back of your hand and can run it like greased lightning, awesome; if you are flipping a coin to decide "success or fail", but you have to look at the rules too often to remember which is heads and...

    Making a wish

What kind of Chaotic Neutral? Maybe find a powerful slaad (either a type, or an individual slaad) to tie the bow to. If you lean towards good, and the rest of the party does, too, you could go with a CG planetar.

Which element could D&D stand to lose more?

I said psionics; psionics seems to be more disposable than elves. If you gave Jon Q Public a "which one of these come to mind when you think of D&D" kind of test, I'm pretty sure "elves" would come up more than "psionics".

I believe that was Sean Reynolds.

    Modern Enemies

In addition to what Doug wrote, there are gangs, (more) organized crime groups from practically any ethnicity or nation, serial killers, vampires, werewolves, vampiric werewolves, skinwalkers, wendigos, mutants, black hounds, Lemurian serpent folk, reptoids, psychotic mimes, renegade military...

What do celebrities do between gigs?

Very possibly. The drug dealer might have been the heart surgeon's neighbor in high school or college roommate. Hell, the drug dealer might be the heart surgeon. Surgeons can prescribe medication, right? Folks get prescriptions to hillbilly heroin from someone. I get what you're saying, but not...

    Eureka Season 4

I keep wondering if that's going to come up -- this Carter is the guy that lived in that alternate timeline, minus the memories thereof. And Henry remembers it all, IIRC. Which ought to make the subplot with the new character extra interesting.
