Gods, planes, afterlife, and the common man

Now you have to define "god". But first, define "define". :)

Drizzt Do'Urden to Become Free Agent???

Surely he'd be hanging out with noted drow fan Vin Diesel, no?

Oye! All this content is getting merged in to General Discussion

D&D 4e has its own forums, in both regular and house rules flavors.

Gods, planes, afterlife, and the common man

I don't think that's quite true. One 17th level cleric can gate in his god (said deity willing) to work some miracles up close and personal. Everybody present (including the ordinary people that are bystanders) then knows for a fact that that god is real. Now, it isn't likely that all people...

Where did the Great Wheel come from?

The basics were in the AD&D (1e) PHB. But we all know where the Great Wheel really came from . . . Great Wheel

Drizzt Do'Urden to Become Free Agent???

Say, if Drizzt does sign with White Wolf, will Bill Slavicsek write an angry, angsty open letter to WotC, All Of Northwestern Faerun, and WotC Supporters Wherever They May Be, all in Comic Sans?

Drizzt Do'Urden to Become Free Agent???

Let's see, he can make darkness, limn things in eerie light, levitate, has two magic swords, can summon a magic panther, wears a cape, is all angsty -- yup, he's a superhero. He should sign with Green Ronin!

Gods, planes, afterlife, and the common man

They'd be commonly known because, despite the relative rarity of higher level spellcasters, there are spellcasters around. Some of them will cast spells to summon avatars, commune with their gods, travel the planes, return the long-dead to life (with tales of the afterlife), and so forth, and...

Gods, planes, afterlife, and the common man

Also, stuff like limited wish and wish let arcane casters get around those pesky "divine only" limitations, and cast cure spells and bring the dead back to life.

    [Rules Cyclopedia] Hit points

So being prone makes you more vulnerable to poison and easier to charm -- sounds like a great entry for Murphy's Rules.

OotS #733 is up - Collect Call!

Durkon does say he's sure he can find legit ways to get them out -- that sounds like petitioning to have them released (and probably paying the inevitable fines) to me. But Roy tells him to get Haley first.

How Would You Explain the Internet to a Character in D&D?

More a series than a bunch. A series of tubes that's full of porn and trolls, and like a church door. Also, you can buy stuff from it.

    Lords of Madness previews!

As long as Michael Bay is directing movies, you'll be okay. Mr. Bay seems to have dedicated himself to maximizing bangs-per-buck. (On topic, the minotaur & dragons look cool, at least what can be seen in the photo. Can't tell about the other three, though.)

    Psionics: Yea or Nay?

Yes, and in later editions as well. Also, teleport -- coined in 1931, according to Wikipedia. Clairvoyance isn't exactly a medieval word, either, IIRC (1847 as a term for an extrasensory ability, according to this etymology). I think "astral projection" is a relatively recent idea, too, as...

How Would You Explain the Internet to a Character in D&D?

"It's a magic talky-writey thing." Also: "You can't kill anyone through it, and no one has any loot anyways."

    Assassins Evil?

The most effective cover for an army of assassins, ever, no? Oh, we're just here to build a levee - STABITY-STAB-STAB! I mean, just think of all the mules donkeyhorses they used to use.

[Trailer] Last Airbender: what's the appeal?

Wikipedia says the TV version was 190 minutes long; add in commercials, and that would push it to four hours. Interesting - I didn't know KTVU did their own cut.
