    D&D 4E The 4e Economy

Love this idea! I'd like a few pages devoted to simple things, like "How much does an inn cost?" "Where can characters store their loot?" I'd also love to see a quick and dirty system for selling the salvaged arms and armor of fallen foes. I dunno, I just enjoy crunchy things like that. If I...

What would you like to see brought back from older editions?

Morgan Ironwolf. Lots more Morgan Ironwolf.

Save my Game: The future of online Wotc content?

I had this discussion with a friend a few weeks back. Before the d20 STL there used to be some GREAT free content on the web. People published zines, wrote APAs and maintained fansites. Then everyone became a businessman and the free went away. Not all of it, of course, but so many nifty ideas...

What would you like to see brought back from older editions?

I'd like to see representational (even abstract), rather than realistic, art. I feel/felt that work by Trampier and Otus are good examples of this. It's evocative and understated, yet still fantastic.

Save my Game: The future of online Wotc content?

Wow. I just thought it was for the mags. Access to the online tabletop will definitely make it worth my while. However, I'd still like a print rag. It just won't be the same. :(

Save my Game: The future of online Wotc content?

Does the $10/month include Dragon and Dungeon? Does that also include the online gaming, or virtual tabletop? or is that something separate that will be purchased through Gleemax?

    ie (e.g.)

The 1st edition AD&D books were full of those abbreviations. I had no idea what they meant when I was younger. And I still don't.... ;)

Talking Wolves and Battle Hymns in Iridia 56

Iridia No. 56; D&D 3.5/GURPS 4e In this week's issue I present a few NPCs from old campaigns that have been rattling around my head, itching to escape. The first is a highly intelligent wolf for GURPS 4e. It's IQ 9, Disturbing Voice and reputation as a dangerous predator will make it an...

I hope they have big noses again. That's all I ask. Big.Freaking.Noses.

How does it feel to be duped by WotC?

I drive a 2007 Ford Escape XLT. In a sense, I am test driving the 2008 model. Based upon customer feedback and repair requirement, the engineers and marketing folks at Ford will know what changes to make. Does this make me mad? Am I upset that I am spending $300/mo for 5 years to ensure that...

Any reviews of "Behind the Spells" PDFs?

That does sound great. I've reviewed a few of them and really enjoyed the read. :)

    Standing ruins of tower map?

Thanks very much! Good luck with the battle. It'd be great to hear how it all works out.

    First GURPS game

Here's another one... D&D magic represents its wargaming roots. In effect, D&D magic is artillery. I submit magic missile, lightning bolt and fireball as examples. GURPS magic has significant penalties for range, so spells will be cast at a much closer distance. Magic is most effective when...

    First GURPS game

With GURPS, it's important to remember that you get to do ONE thing during a turn. You can draw a weapon, attack, move, stand up, etc. When you do move, it's only a few yards. Some D&D players have a hard time with this, expecting to move 30' across the battle and make an attack. I also found...

    Standing ruins of tower map?

I'm not sure if this will help; I used it for an article in my zine... http://www.iridiazine.net/misc/abandoned_tower.pdf Love the drow priestess/clingy spider. Very cool!

    First GURPS game

RE: Original Post I hope you have a great time with your GURPS campaign. It's an excellent system. I sometimes write some GURPS material in my zine. If you ever need a monster, I've worked on a few conversions. I have copies of the back issues available in .pdf. So far I have converted a...

D&D 3.x What if 3.5 and 4E split the market?

This is such a good point. Basic D&D is very different from 1e, which is distinct from 2e, which is quite dissimilar from 3e, which may feel like a completely different game from 4e. There are now so many different - yet perfectly playable - versions of the game that players can settle down...

    The Minority of Humanity

This has been my experience, too, and I think it's a good example of why settings that feature humano-centric feudal governents are silly. In a fantasy setting, there are LOTS of sentient races that can easily act as a check to the expansion of humanity. Hooray for the Points of Lights concept...

    Monsters, Monsters, Monsters! Podcast

Nice try, Hasbro. I'll still plan on buying only the PHB, MM 1 and DMG. You need to try harder than that to separate me from my cash. Oh, wait, H1 is on the list, too. Gimme!
