How frequent are dragon encounters in your game?

we play 3.5. After running two or three 3.5 campaigns, I am finally inflicting a dragon on the party next week. It will be a young dragon and I look forward to the fight. It's interesting how so many gamers don't focus on dragons. Dungeons yes, but not the other side of the ampersand.

A New Yorker cover from a few months back. I think it's relevant to this discussion.

New D&D Miniatures Set - Hmm...

Shoot. Not a whole lot there that calls out to me. I really like the mushrooms, though. A bunch of those could dress up a dungeon rather nicely.

Have you seen an Aboleth in game?

That's quite a commitment! After a year, our effort stalled out soon after encountering the insane Kuo Toa.

Have you seen an Aboleth in game?

Patrick Lawinger wrote that one. Great module!

What if the D&D brand had gone dark?

If D&D was shelved tomorrow, most people would be unaffected. They'd keep playing merrily along, happy to indulge in whatever edition strikes their fantasy. Perhaps it would be like Star Trek. The original series ran for, what, three seasons? After it was canceled, people were still...

Have you seen an Aboleth in game?

If you want to read an example of an entire campaign based upon the machinations of an Aboleth, get hold of TSR's 2e campaign box set "The Night Below." It's pretty epic, although players had mixed reactions to it. It really is an impressive product.

1E Unearthed Arcana: Yea or Nay?

I like the crantrips. A nifty edition to the game. Did not like the inflative ability scores of the Cavalier. Thought the Thief-Acrobat was a nifty proto-prestige class. Loved the pole arm illustrations. Hated the binding.

[APG] Dragon's Hoard Issue One of 4E

I think it's great to see so many periodicals on the scene. Promags in print, amateur .pdf zines, prozines in pdf, single sheets...it's all good. :)

    Your Second Love

Awesome. I took a copy of that book to a con and had it signed by at least a dozen cast members.

    Your Second Love

Star Frontiers Star Frontiers was so great. After swords and sorcery, lasers and grenades were awesome. I liked the skills, weapons, races, all of it. This was a game that was fun back then and would be fun now.

What was your favorite 1e/2e magic item?

Oh man, that was the best. I especially loved it when the DM would add his own twisted spin to the results. Good times, good times.

    1E/2E/OD&D, 4E, and finally 3E

The OP describes my frame of mind these days. I have no interest in 4e. I am running a 3.5 game now and as the PCs hit 6th level, the complexity level is starting to increase. When this campaign runs it's course, I think I'll be done with 3.5. I've run some fun campaigns, but there's nothing...
