    Tower Construction (pic heavy)

To provide a base for the model and to add stability, I cut out a piece of foam board (sometimes called foam core) that I bought for $5. I glued the foam board into place with a hot glue gun. I've had my hot glue gun for a long time, but if you need one, they cost anywhere from $10 tp $25.

    Tower Construction (pic heavy)

Hello all, Thought I'd try something new. The players in my campaign are coming over Sunday. Their small tower will be under assault by an 8th level cleric of Hextor and as many as 60 lvl 2 warriors. To commemorate the battle, I thought I'd build a model to really bring the tabletop to life. I...

    Do you like modrons?

Maybe their time has passed, but if you knew anything about the Great Wheel cosmology from prior editions of the game, you would not say that. Modrons from Mechanus are every bit as necessary to the D&D creature collection as demons, devils or slaad.

    Do you like modrons?

I must have Modron miniatures. Give them to me, WotC.

New Look Iridia Is In The Mail

November 3, 2008; Iridia 81; D&D 3.5/Miniatures 16 pages; digest format; $2.00 + .50 S/H In the Actual Play column, I present Hulcrim the Fierce, a manticore cleric of Hextor. Hulcrim has been dispatched by his master to seek out and kill the PCs. His background, stat block and a suggestion...

    Resurrecting old RPG favorites.

In the way that Labyrinth Lord is an excellent retro-clone of Moldvay's Basic D&D - and it's also OGL - I wish someone could publish a Star Frontiers game. The key names - Yazirian, Dralasite, Vrusk and Sathar - would be the legal sticking points. If someone could obtain permission or get away...

Peter Lee talks about Modrons miniatures

I like them within the context of Mechanus and how they were represented in Planescape. I think they are one of the races that can be easily identified with their home plane, in the way that Baatezu, Tannari and Slaad fit theirs. Maybe their time has passed, but I don't think it would take much...

    What Level is a Guardsman?

Hello Snoweel, I'm not sure if this will be of help to you, but in an issue of my zine I wrote about watchmen. I created a chain of command, small group tactics and provided stat blocks. Here the link: http://www.iridiazine.net/pdf/Iridia46.pdf

Not letting the players know how much experience they have

I like to give the PCs their xps. It's fun for the players to watch their totals grow. Their anticipation rises as they near the next level. It motivates them to get out there and mix it up.

Peter Lee talks about Modrons miniatures

I also seem to recall a statement by Andy Collins from a few years back, after that point, where he said something to the effect of "everyone thinks they're stupid", as a way of explaining why the modrons had little more than a paragraph in the 3e Manual of the Planes. He's stupid. Modrons...

    Scratching Fantasy Itch besides D&D

That is an excellent point and one that even experienced GMs must contend with. Now all 100 point characters are created equal. To the OP: If you decide to go the GURPS route, I've written up quite a few NPCs and monsters for my zine that I can send your way. :)

    Scratching Fantasy Itch besides D&D

I've always enjoyed GURPS for fantasy. I like the point based character creation, gritty combat and DIY approach to creature creation. I love tinkering with monster and NPC builds.

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I'm with you on this. It's one of the things I like about generic systems, like GURPS. Monsters, NPCs and PCs are all built with the same toolkit. There a transparency and universality of 3.5 that I like.

    1E Resurgence?

One of the nice things about 4e is that it has people not only taking about 4e, but about all of the game's incarnations. It's really great to see so many versions of the game - as well as retro clones - being played. When I write for my zine, I really try to cover the edition bases. People have...

My favourite published campaign setting would be...

Gygax's Greyhawk. Everything I needed in two little books and two poster maps. It's amazing how much gaming can be created from a relatively small (by today's standards) supplement.
