    Disciplines. Mind****s. :D

D&D 4E Should WotC take a Step Back and Reevaluate 4E?

No, it's not even remotely scientific. Such an approach would be scientific if we knew what the distribution looked like, drawn from an unbiased sample. We have no clue what the distribution is, and the sample is neither random or unbiased. The data we have consists of "a half dozen guys who...

    No Rituals for Warlocks?

I really hope that warlocks get rituals. I love the flavor of the warlock, but it's the noncombat spells siloed in rituals that I most enjoy about playing a spellcaster. If they don't have rituals, I hope it's fairly easy to gain access to another classes rituals through multiclassing.

    Magic Items #2

Since everyone gains a benefit from milestones, I expect that it'll become second nature to keep track of them. Minor actions can only be used on your turn. They're what 3e calls swift actions, but have more uses than spellcasting and magic item activation now. Free actions can be done at...

    Brutal Combonations.

Since we still have no idea how multiclassing works, it's a bit premature to talk about broken multiclass combinations. For all we know, there is probably no such thing as a "Fighter 1 / Cleric 1."

    Fly is out?

The AiCN playtester review also said that characters don't get to fly until they're in the paragon tier. 10+ levels without any flying is a lot more satisfying to me than 3e's 4 levels without flying.

    OK, I'm in ...

We should also remember that we have only seen characters at 1st level. 4e characters do seem much more survivable and effective at 1st level than 3e 1st level characters, but I consider that a feature, not a bug. 3e characters were so incredibly fragile at 1st level that few people enjoyed...

    The Rouse at The eXPerience

Are there RSS feeds for any of the Gleemax blogs? I've looked for one, but haven't found anything.

D&D 5E (2014) What do YOU Want to See Next?

More than anything else, Multiclassing. I suspect we won't get a preview about it, because we may need to know more about how the regular classes work before we can understand how multiclassing works. #2: Rituals. We know that they exist, but that's about it. I'd like an article about how...

PHB classes -- why does it matter which ones are included?

They're not going to re-release the PHB. They are going to put out a new PHB each year, a PH2, PH3, PH4, etc. They're also doing the same with MMs and DMGs. People have been guessing that the PH2 will contain classes for the primal power source (druids, barbarians) and the shadow power source...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

You're assuming a fair bit here. The paladin smites article described "2[W] + Cha" as "double her base weapon's damage plus her Charisma modifier in damage". We still have no clear idea what "the base weapon's damage" means. It could be just the weapon's damage die.

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

In general, it's because I want each stat to be useful to all characters, even if it it's more useful for some classes than others. In specific, I want Int to be useful for rogues because I like playing intelligent, cunning rogues, and want to gain a real benefit for taking a high Int. :D

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

That would be my guess. Streetwise is probably a combination of 3e's Knowledge (local), Gather Information, diplomacy checks for getting along in the criminal underworld, knowledges of fences and gangs, and maybe even a measure of the connections the character has, or the ability to make new...

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

They also get Stealth, which covers hide and move silently. Athletics covers climb, jump, and swim. Perception covers listen, spot, and probably perception. Rogues will have tons of skills, compared to the equivalent 3e character. I also suspect that gaining training in a new skill will be...

    D&D 4E 4e abilities, skills, and attacks...

Sounds good to me. In 4e, it seems that powers is what differentiates between classes now, not basic statistics. In other words, fighters are kickass in combat now not because of having a "high BAB", but because they have nasty powerful combat powers.

So, what Class are you dying to play?

When reading through Races & Classes, at the end of each class section I said to myself, "OOOooo, I want to play that more than anything!" And then after the next class, I said "No, I want to play that more than anything!" And then after the next class, I said "No, I want to play that more than...

What classes will be in the martial power book?

They've said that the PHBs will have classes with new power sources, not that they'll only have classes with new power sources. Frankly, I will be very surprised if the martial power book has any new classes in it. With a whole new edition, there's already tons of design space open for...

    Monster Manual: How Much Cut?

That will certainly help. I think they said that the monster creation rules would be in the DMG, so that would save a bunch of pages too.

D&D 5E (2014) What will be the next major preview from Bill Salvesick?

A class writeup, or even the summary table, would be fantastic. Some powers would be especially welcome, especially for some iconic or interesting wizard or cleric spells. We've seen a few paladin powers, but that's it.

D&D 4E Which settingS would you most like to see for 4E

Birthright, because it's my favorite setting that TSR/Wizards has ever published for D&D. I know it doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being done as a 4e book, but I would love to see Dragonlance, because it's a classic D&D setting, and many parts of the setting would need game...
