There's a big difference between early seasons' and later seasons' subverting expectations. The early seasons' subversion came from the assumption people have going in that the main characters will find a way out of the deadly situations they put themselves in, and GoT (and ASOIAF to begin with)...

Nah. GoT's first 4 seasons were as good as advertised. The last 4 seasons being trash doesn't make the NYT right, it just means the show got worse.

Game of Thrones should not be on the list. It was bad for literally as many seasons as it was good.

The 2 spells a round is definitely too much, but honestly, OneD&D should probably at least buff Haste to allow you to make all your attacks with the additional action.

Planar Ally is an awesome summon (and THE reason to go 11 levels in Cleric).

One of the problems that stuck out to me was how meaningless non-lethal is treated. It's basically a "we killed them but we didn't really kill them" placebo ability.

IIRC, one of the patches that came out recently also buffed Isobel's health in that fight so she doesn't go down quite as easily as before.

Lae'zel mentions a few times about training her body to perfection and being disciplined, which screams Fighter or perhaps Monk. Other melee-type classes have less flavor emphasis on that sort of thing, so I feel like she needs to be one of those two classes. Karlach is a bit more flexible...

I recall Swen Vincke mentioning that Larian's next project will be smaller scale than BG3 was. Honestly, a more story-light, combat-heavy game like an Icewind Dale 3, using the same engine as BG3, could fit the bill for the type of game they might want to do next.

BG3 is the first one of those that has really emerged into zeitgeist territory, though. Sure, there were great and fairly popular D&D video games before then, but those and the CRPG genre as a whole has still been largely regarded as niche. It's like with Final Fantasy and how VII did the same...

I imagine the Big Patch #1 is going to be aimed mostly at Act 3 because that is where by far most of the issues are at.
