What feats need to be added to the game?

Naturally there is an endless possibility when it comes to feats that could be added to 4E. What feats do you feel need to be added for the sake of rounding out the game and providing balance with existing options? Not crazy broken feats, but stuff that really ought to have been there all...

    Working the game

I concur with all of the above on point buy versus rolled stats. I was the one in the last campaign who got unlucky on my stat rolls and had a 16 as my highest score compared to everyone else with 18's. Point buy avoids those issues - just don't restrict it to the standard array and you'll be...

Move and Charge in the same turn, is that legal?

There are a number of limitations on charge which should be kept in mind. You have to move a minimum of 2 squares to charge. That does make it very hard to charge the same target without provoking an opportunity attack unless you have an ability to shift multiple squares. You have to stop...

Move and Charge in the same turn, is that legal?

It is perfectly fine to move and charge on the same turn. As you say, one is a move action and the other a standard. The bonus for charging is +1 to hit. I have often seen move/charge combos used to good effect, and it really can help close the distance on a battlefield. In fact, when I...

Give me the idea, I build the monster

Thanks for statting up Phidias, the insane beholder sculptor. I like the idea of him denouncing the heroes as imperfect and him promising to resculpt them into a true aesthetic ideal. Of course that means he needs to turn them to stone first, but it's all in the name of art. I still may...

    Business rules

I like your rules for businesses. I had a PC with a merchant family background choose to invest in a business to help out an NPC. While I haven't yet had to deal with the consequences of that, I do need to eventually figure out how well the business is doing and what the return on the...

Give me the idea, I build the monster

Thank you for the alternate design. I will consider both versions and see what might work best - or combine elements of both. The group does not have much healing, especially compared to your party. There's only the taclord and a fighter who just multi-classed to cleric. They have a battle...

Sorry to post this here, but... is WotC down?

I can't log into the WotC forums, so I can't post. I can *see* the forums though. I cannot update the Character Builder or access D&DI. Comcast, Colorado Springs. :(

    squares vs hexes?

My math choices when coming up with the template shapes are explained in the PDF containing them. I decided that a 90 degree arc worked best in multiple directions, but the shapes are approximated on the grid. Generally I counted out the number of hexes that the blast radius specified, and...

    Stopping the Charge.

You need to move directly towards your target, but unlike in 3.5, I'd say you can avoid obstacles on the way. It doesn't specify a straight line, just the shortest route. You must stop in the first square you can make a melee attack from. That could be interesting if you have a reach weapon.

That's really cool, thanks for mentioning it. The possibilities are endless!

    Free healing with Life Transference

Given the name and flavor text of the power, I don't think disallowing its use on yourself is reading anything unintended into the power. Life Transference - means transferring from one person to another. I don't see how you can transfer wounds from yourself to yourself. Bruises and...

Give me the idea, I build the monster

Very nice, thank you! I like the Tatters ability as a way to make the parameters of the fight change midway through. It makes the group feel like they have accomplished something when they ground it, despite the damage increase. I'm still thinking about what I want to do with regards to...

    ENworld unstable?

Thanks for the fix! It's great to be able to get back onto ENworld without having to wait for each page to download over the course of 5 minutes or more. Maybe experts are worth it after all!

[4e DMs] What campaign setting are you using?

I'm running a heavily modified version of the world from the War of the Burning Sky campaign from EN Publishing. I added in Genasi from Forgotten Realms Player's Guide, and changed around a lot of the racial composition of the countries involved to make it more 4E. For instance, I made the...

Give me the idea, I build the monster

Bone Dragon I'd like a bone dragon for an upcoming fight. It should be a solo undead, and probably about level 9-10 range. I'm not sure what other role it should be - I'd say probably artillery or skirmisher rather than brute or soldier. I'm using it to replace a (spoiler) The group is...

    squares vs hexes?

I'm a fan of hexes and we've been using them in a variety of games, including both 3.5 and 4E D&D. Don't worry about crossing the grid lines and you can draw anything you want. I sometimes use a ruler and just draw the walls to whatever size I need. Square grids have exactly the same problem...

    Helpless doesn't Hinder

No. It doesn't make sense because of the other uses of the word in the PHB. But whatever. shutting up.

    Helpless doesn't Hinder

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I ran across something that lends credence to the idea that the "Helpless" condition needs to be defined differently or more clearly than it presently is. Also under "Moving a Grabbed Target" it states that "...helpless allies are treated as objects; you...

[NFSW] Exotic Terrains - Heroic Tier

Blood Crystals Blood crystals grow in deep caverns. They consist of hundreds of thin crystal filaments growing from a central core, much like an enormous sea urchin. The crystals are completely transparent and can be somewhat difficult to see. The merest brush of living flesh will cause them...
