Ah, here is, perhaps, a more difficult question to answer: What if (experience points aside) people used the 1E Bard and Monk instead of their 3E counterparts? Would this poll achieve the same result?

Ah! This sounds much like the "Knave" class I'm working on. Basically, it's a fellow who "pretends" to be other classes and, depending upon his charisma score and your dice roll, his cure light wounds spell might actually work on you!

IMHO, a True Neutral Paladin would be nothing more than a spell-less Druid with really nice armour and a huge sword.
