Can a creature be neither an enemy nor an ally?

No, you misunderstand. The Paladin, of course, decides who's an ally and who's an enemy. I'm asking, can he choose to neither hurt nor help someone? Whether he's an ally or not isn't in question- if the Paladin considers him an ally, he's an ally (even if he's an enemy in disguise). But if he...

Can a creature be neither an enemy nor an ally?

So, a big battle in our game tonight involved a former-ally-turned-death-knight turning against our enemy (his new master) and fighting on our side. The Paladin used Hallowed Circle, which has different effects for enemies and allies in the area. The Paladin didn't really want the former ally to...

    Ranger Balance

Fighters can take them out two at a time too, and it only requires one attack roll. Wizards can take them out 9 at a time if they're positioned right. But so what? They're minions. If the striker is attacking minions, someone's doing their job wrong.

Do any monsters have Move Action attacks?

I guess what I'm wondering is this: It seems that certain enemy attacks are (for lack of a better phrase) "weak enough" to allow the enemy to use such an attack three times a round- and others are "powerful enough" that they can only be used once per round (as a standard). Are there any powers...

Do any monsters have Move Action attacks?

So, the majority of attacks in 4e are Standard Actions. As we all know, there's plenty of monsters that have at-will attacks that are Minor Actions instead of Standards. Now, unless it's a recharge or non-at-will attack, there's nothing stopping them from turning all of their actions into minors...

    Ongoing aura's and saving throws

It would have been much simpler, in my opinion, to say, "While in the aura, you are slowed. After leaving the aura, you are slowed (save ends)." Is that any different than what you've said? Edit: Actually, there IS a difference. It would be incredibly rare, but theoretically, if someone made...

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Are we talking about Dailies, or Encounters? Since when are Dailies limited by encounters (beyond the ones that specifically last an encounter)? No, because there aren't any dailies (for the most part) that can be used more than once per day. Better...

    PHB2 Classes simply better?

...Do creatures grant cover in 4e? If so, is there a chance of hitting the person in front of your target? I was under the impression that cover from creatures and firing into melee and all of those headaches were done away with.

Can you use forced movement abilities on allies?

Fairly simple question. Can you use a power that forces movement (such as a Warlord's Opening Shove) on an ally? If so, what happens with the free attack granted by it? Regardless of the answer to that question, is there another (or an easier) way for PCs to force movement on allies, such as...

    Ranger's Twin Strike ...

Not to de-rail the topic, but it seems you've missed the main effect of Toughness: It increases your Healing Surge value by 1 (or 2, 20% of the time) per tier. This, in my opinion, FAR exceeds the fact that it increases your maximum HP by 5. Saying, "Monsters hit for more than 5 damage these...

    D&D 4E Is there a compiled Broken 4e Bits?

There's a sticky thread with a compilation of errata, if that's sort of what you're looking for.

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

    >.> Look, I came here because I noticed an inconsitency in the Player's Handbook. (You can't argue that there are plenty of them.) And instead of being helpful, or in any way whatsoever constructive, you've wasted both your own time and mine in order to "convince people it's a useless topic"...

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

Then why are you posting in a useless thread?

    Non-combat uses for martial powers

Well, what you're doing completely invalidating the need for any sort of lock, arcane or mundane. Any locked door, any impassable wall, as long as it isn't blocked by a Forbiddance effect, can be easily passed by an Eladrin with ten minutes of free time. That's far too powerful, in my opinion.

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

Why? There's no topics titled, "So.... why, exactly, is Healing Word an encounter?" What about Lay on Hands does not preclude a Daily power?

    Non-combat uses for martial powers

...Don't you need Line of Effect to teleport?

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

Nobody's saying it should be an Encounter. It's a power that can be used a certain number of times per day. Thus, it should be a daily with more than one use.

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

But... there was additional text anyway. There's no limit to how many dailies can be used in an encounter, so there wouldn't need to be any text beyond what they put in the at-will description.

So.... why, exactly, is Lay on Hands an at-will?

It's an at-will that can be used a (very) limited number of times per day. Why isn't it a Daily with multiple uses (like how Inspiring Word is an encounter that can be used twice)? I mean, seriously. An at-will?

    Warden question.

I don't have my books handy, but in the case of the Fighter, the free attack granted is stated to be an Immediate Interrupt (Immediate Reaction? It's been a while), which you only get one of per round.
