    Not so Epic Feats

Allow me to choose six, if you don't mind. 1. Great Strength. 2. Great Dexterity. 3. Great Constitution. 4. Great Intelligence. 5. Great Wisdom. 6. Great Charisma. All of them are practically worthless as non-epic feats, and even moreso as epic feats. What Epic character will spend one of...

    Magical Travel

For yor first example: Erm, it doesn't work that way. You aren't actually travelling in a straight line- rather, you're momentarily shunted (for a split second) to the Astral Plane, and then transported onto the Material Plane at your destination. As for the second example, there isn't really a...

    Magical Travel

    1. As you've quoted, yes. 1a. Because you aren't actually travelling to the Astral Plane- you're briefly touching it and using its transitive power to get from one place to another. 2. In short, yes. In long, no. There isn't any such thing as "mid-transport"- the spells are instantaneous, so...

No Save, No SR, No way!

Um... yes. In fact, I specifically said that in my last post, which you directly quoted. :-P

    Is this legal?

Here's a small example I just thought of. In a campaign I DMed early in my DMing career, one of my players was playing a Lawful Evil rogue who was part of a secret organization or assassins and blackguards. He really wanted a Ring of Invisibility, but it was far out of his price range. He...

    Is this legal?

Well, there's the Holy Avenger, which gains most of its abilities when used by a Paladin. But that's basically how those abilities work- the items in the DMG just have the limitation on MOST of the item's cost, just not all of it. So... if a Dwarven character makes a Hammer that, when wielded...

Does Power attack's damage bonus apply to the Trample [Ex] ability?

So, in other words, shouldn't everyone get a free +2 dodge bonus to their AC from Fighting Defensively? In fact, shouldn't every single spellcaster decide to fight defensively all the time? As long as they don't cast any spells that require attack rolls, they could get the +2 to AC at no penalty...

    Wizard questions

I believe you are correct. Erm.... I don't think that's correct. Sorcerers are specifically mentioned as being able to do so, but I don't think Wizards can be default (though they're often houseruled as being able to do such). As usual, in any instance of doing that, the spell is still treated...

Does Power attack's damage bonus apply to the Trample [Ex] ability?

Says who? Is there a rules quote to back this up, or are you just making a generalized assumption?

No Save, No SR, No way!

I'm afraid you are incorrect. ...as per the SRD. Even if it's non-offensive, if you target a foe with a spell, you become visible. The word "offensive" doesn't even show up. You'd become visible even if you cast Detect Magic at your opponent, for example.

    Prestidigitation

Everything he did- with the exception of moving the magical gear, which I don't think Prestidigitation should have allowed- could have been done with Mage Hand, another 0-level spell, but Mage Hand would have done it much faster and much easier, with far greater range. That's cool that he used...

    Prestidigitation

Well, telekinesis is one of the options listed in the spell description. Anyway, I agree entirely with Vorpus. It's a fun and useful spell- but by no means is it powerful. It doesn't let your character do anything they couldn't do otherwise- it just gives you a flavor description for your...

    Is this legal?

Anyone have a response to my question? The question, for those too lazy to scroll up is this: What would you do if a Dwarven Cleric decided to make a Dwarven Thrower? It's in the DMG, and it has the restriction (and reduced price) that only a Dwarf can get all of its abilities. He's making it...

    Is this legal?

For all of you people telling him that he shouldn't get a discount because it's not a disadvantage to him, let me ask you this: Would you let a dwarven cleric make a Dwarven Thrower? If so, would you go by the pricing in the DMG, or would you reverse-engineer the price to get rid of the...

Help: Evil DM sundered my wand :(

The craft skill is used for creating and repairing nonmagical items. For magical items, you consult the magic item section of the DMG- which states that repairing a magic item, wand, weapon, or otherwise, costs half of the time, money, and xp of crafting the item in the first place. (It wouldn't...

    Huge Balor's reach with whip

Ha ha, come now... we all know the the rules and logic are two completely separate entities. That said, simply saying "the rules" with no rules citation doesn't really mean anything to anyone.

    Looking for help with Anyspell

If I'm not mistaken, it has to be prepared along with all of his spells when he prepares his spells. As I saw it, it's basically a free slot he can prepare any appropriate arcane spell in it.

    Two-Weapon Defense

It doesn't carry over because you haven't paid for it. True, two +1 weapons cost the same as a +2 shield, but it doesn't cost the same as a +2 shield AND two +1 weapons. If that were the case, one feat would not only allow you the versatility of two weapons (and the increased damage output...

2 quick questions regarding multiclass wizards

I don't know much about the Archivist, but if you consider multiclassing as a spellcaster "best of both worlds", all the power to you.

    Stacking an improved crit?

As others have said, two doublings equals a tripling. So the aforementioned crit range would be 12-20, not 9-20. On a similar note, in 3e, there was an ability the Weapon Master prestige class got that doubled the character's crit range, but if he already had Improved Critical, it simply added 2...
