    Knocked prone and large creatures

If he's worried about it being a balance issue, remind him that the fact that the Pit Fiend is bigger is already factored into his HP, defenses, attacks and whatnot. Every advantage that needs to be adjusted due to his side is already done so. Unless he specifically cannot be knocked prone, then...

    Items of "Holding"

Mechanically, as long as it weighs less than the Bag of Holding's capacity, it'll fit. Of course a DM can always rule that something is too big to fit in the opening, but what fits and what doesn't fit is purely DM-territory. Some DMs won't care what you put in, others will argue that even the...

    Can we eat that?

For anyone who's played or DMed the Age of Worms adventure path back in 3.5, you may remember that in the first adventure (The Whispering Cairn), there's a magical basin in the bottom of this old tomb that magically produces this substance that tastes like gravy, and if you eat a small portion...

Bat Aside vs. solo monster (or last man standing)?

Wow. Talk about a power needed errata. Did the possibility of using that on a single enemy not cross anybody's mind from conception to print?

Help me select powers for a soulless guy.

In keeping with the other poster's "black hole for souls" idea, what if he had an ability (possibly free, maybe immediate reaction) to gain hit points whenever an enemy spends a healing surge? Like, let's ay he has an aura 5 that, whenever a healing surge is spent, it heals 2 less HP, and those...

    Magic Wpn question Staggering Weapon?

Where does Tide of Iron say anything about not using your weapon? It has the weapon keyword. It deals weapon damage. Yes, you have to be wearing a shield, but at no point does the power say anything about using your shield as a weapon.

So... why exactly can you not take actions after a charge?

Neither of those classes existed when 4e came out. Both were made with the knowledge that Charges end your turn. So far, although I'm sure most of the reasons in this thread are accurate, I have yet to see compelling reason why this was a design choice from the get-go. It just seems so arbitrary.

So... why exactly can you not take actions after a charge?

Both 3e and 4e have had the specific rule that after a charge, you can take no other actions. Why, exactly, is this the case? I can only imagine it's a balance issue (as, especially in 3e, there were enough absurdities with abstract combat that I'm sure it wasn't an issue of "realism"), but what...

    Swift Charge

Are there any other triggered abilities that can be saved up and used at a later time? Because I can't think of a single one.

Can you have a shield and a arm slot magic item on at the time time.

Although you can take the Shield Specialization feat to increase the bonus.

    Push/Slide over a ledge?

Except, in that case, you'd have to be pushed at least two squares- either you are pushed into the railing's square and then off the edge, or you're already up against the railing, and falling off. If the enemy is already up against the railing, they wouldn't get two saves.

    Tide of Iron Question

    Barbarian swift charge issues

But it IS his fault that he doesn't suit the party. No, it's not his choice that the party lacks a defender. Yes, he should have the freedom to pick whatever build he wants despite the rest of the party. But if he makes his choice without considering the consequences, why should you let him...

    D&D 4E The Deadmines in 4e

Hello, all! I'm about to begin creating a 4e adventure out of the famous World of Warcraft Instance, the Deadmines. In the process of coming up with some easy hooks for a couple low-level adventures, I threw in some of the lore for the WoW Defias Brotherhood, and after the players seemed...

Are These Ideas A Sack of Rats?

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm perfectly fine with the Druid's "abuse" in this case, as well as the gnome's "abuse" as well. The way I see it, both of them are doing something so sub-par and situational that, in almost every possible case, they'd be much better off doing something else. If a player...

    Come and (Don't) Get It?

To be perfectly honest, that's how I've always envisioned the power. I guess that was aided by the fact the first time I used that power, it was in the final battle of a low-level game, and it gave my character the perfect amount of bad-assery.

Are These Ideas A Sack of Rats?

He's taking damage, right? As long as you don't allow him to minimize the damage (that is, he still has to roll damage), it should be fine. After all, he's spending a standard action (to attack himself) and taking damage, all to use a racial encounter power. I don't see how this could be abused...

Does your DM hide their rolls?

I roll out in the open. I used to hige my rolls, so I could fudge them if necessary, but then I'd get angry when I'd throw a really tough encounter at the PCs, and they'd make it through no problem (which would happen often, since I'd fudge so much). Then I played with some DMs who always rolled...

    Maximum amount of dice needed?

Except that a Brutal weapon ignores the low roll- so there's no need to keep track of it. (If you roll a 1, there'd be no reason to pick up a different die- you'd just reroll the one that rolled poorly.) With a Vorpal weapon, though, you need to keep track of your exploding rolls.

    Any experience with Swarm Druids?

Ah, gotcha. I can see how that could be a problem- however, I doubt it will be for us, since this party is almost entirely ranged (Fighter, ranged Cleric, ranged Bard, Warlock, and Druid) and the Fighter was absent for the last encounter. (The entire battle consisted mainly of the players luring...
