D&D 4E So... is there a default 4e campaign setting?

It could also be that you saw it, you just don't remember it. It was, after all, the most boring book I've ever tried to read. Which really is a shame, because I tried to read it back when I was super-excited about Greyhawk, and could only muster through a couple chapters.

    My first 4th edition campaign

No, I haven't. And I hope to God I never am. Luckily for the TC, this is his first 4e campaign, and he's not asking "OMG my group is fighting Orcus and they say leaders suxxors and now I need halp pl0x". Telling a new player that a class's main archetype is poor because your very, very, very...

D&D 4E So... is there a default 4e campaign setting?

Back in 3.x, the default campaign setting was Greyhawk (and the deities & named magic spells fit this). Is this still the case in 4e? If not, what is the default campaign setting? Are there any maps and such available for it, or is 4e just supposed to be played Homebrew?

    My first 4th edition campaign

It sounds to me like you've never been in a party with a truly good leader.

    How do you RP marking?

Let me set this straight once and for all. NOBODY IS COMPELLED TO ATTACK SOMEONE WHO IS MARKING THEM. I don't care what class the marker is, or what abilities or feats they have, MARKING IS 100% A CHOICE. If you get marked by a Fighter, you are under NO obligation WHATSOEVER to attack him...

    How do you RP marking?

The only time Marking doesn't make sense thematically is when you're describing it wrong. If you describe it as someone taunting you, cursing your father, whatever, then that won't work in every situation. Personally, I think that Marking isn't necessarily something the Fighter actively does-...

    Magic Item Daily Attack Question

Ah, that's what it was. I agree that it seems intended that you'd get the enhancement bonus- otherwise, like you said, the attacks would be useless- especially when you're making an attack at (at least) 6 points lower than all your others. I just couldn't remember how they differentiated between...

    Secondary Damage with Hellish Rebuke?

Alright. That's what I wasn't sure about. Hey, I never said I applied it to the initial attack! :-P

    Secondary Damage with Hellish Rebuke?

So would the Warlock be able to apply curse damage to this as well?

    Magic Item Daily Attack Question

Do yo have a page number or quote to back that up? Not that I doubt that's how it was intended, but I can't think of how the wording for when you add a Proficiency bonus could possibly be any different from the wording for when you add a weapon's enhancement bonus. Meaning, I don't see how the...

    Difficult Character and Player

I'll admit first off that I haven't read any of the replies in this thread so far- I'm merely posting in response to part of the original issue. I've made a promise to myself to NEVER settle for a player who claims to feel "limited" by the standard character races and classes- unless said...

    Immediate Reaction & Twin Strike

Personally, I think this a rule that encourages slowing down gameplay. As a player who always wants to keep the game moving, I tend to roll all attacks at once (in the case of multiple targets, I use different colored dice and declare which one is which). In fact, everybody I've played with...

Can Dominate disarm a person's weapon?

Although I don't think that disarming should be an option in 4e, I think that disallowing this use of Dominate by claiming "dropping an object isn't a power" is a stupid, invalid argument. Movement isn't a power either, but there's nothing stopping Dominated characters from moving.

    Attack bonuses on multi-attack powers

Here's a (slightly exaggerated) example that further proves this point, in my opinion: Let's say a Fighter multiclasses Wizard and takes the aforementioned Paragon Path, and uses an action point to attack an opponent, and misses. On that opponent's turn, he attacks a creature that is not the...

Can Dominate disarm a person's weapon?

Just how often do your players face dominating enemies on the edge of a bottomless cliff? In that case, I'd be much more afraid of having the dominator force the player to jump off the cliff than toss my favorite magic item. Besides, if you hosed a player like that, you can bet they'd argue...

question on a couple of effects with a fighter

So, if the character in question has the ability to push the target 4 squares, does he get to apply the damage four times? One could argue that he's pushed the target one square (and thus satisfies Iron Vanguard) then pushes it another square (and thus satisfies Iron Vanguard) then pushes it...

What class for a "smart warrior"?

I don't get it. You're looking for a Fighter who relies on Intelligence or Wisdom. Why not just go with a Fighter as-is? Depending on the build, Wisdom can be almost as vital as Strength. Just make a Fighter with high Wisdom, and build yourself accordingly.
