When is a power used? (Crescendo Sword)

So, your reply is to sort through and find the one comment, that when taken out of context, is hinky enough to find fault with? Try quoting the entire message and pick apart each part... I was respectful enough to view your entire post and have my disagreements with each part... No comment on...

    It's official...

Great concept there... very unique hehe... I could see a Dwarf Infernal Warlock, wearing a spiked pact blade shield and wielding a parrying dagger... could _easily_ see that!

When is a power used? (Crescendo Sword)

This one is more of something called common sense really... when do you deal damage, when an attack has been found to have hit. When do you say that the attack is "resolved" after all damage has been assigned. Well, in same sense, a power is not considered "used/finished" until the effects of...

    Punisher of the Gods ?

The problem with your question, at least to me, is that people pick paths based on what will benefit them the most. This naturally sets up combos. Given that basic method, yes, the punisher of the gods epic destiny does tend to cause unusually high-powered characters compared to other epics...

    Armor Specialization (Plate)

My question is... how comes we have to make a feat to balance things, or change a feat to balance things... Why not bring back Field Plate? It was supposed to be as protective as real plate, but less cumbersome and constricting... Make it, with 1 less ACP involved to represent the lesser...

    It's official...

Can anyone find any neat combos or tricks that may make a warlock viable in melee using the double-blade idea? It really has piqued my interest... was only saying it "on-the-fly" yesterday, but now actually has me thinking... So does anyone else have any ideas that may go with it?

When is a power used? (Crescendo Sword)

Thank you. It was my mistake. Apologies

When is a power used? (Crescendo Sword)

A power is considered used after all effects of the power have been tallied and worked out. If the power you have let's you regain a power, then you would pick the power first (as an effect of the current power) then the original power would be finished and put in the "discard" pile. Sorry...

    It's official...

How is it convoluted? You spend 2 feats: One for dagger, and one for swordmage (no books, so trying to remember... Parrying dagger is a superior weapon I believe) You gain a solid +1 AC, and a possibility of bumping to +4 once per day, right? With my method, you can forego the multiclass...

    It's official...

Oooooo.... since pact blade only goes on Light Blades... and a double sword has a hvy and a lt blade... you can only enchant one side of it... a Pact Double Sword... get the +1 defense bonus of the weapon, and a +1 from 2-W Defense... hmmm

    Hit, Miss, Or...

Problem: If a player attempts to use a power, but there are no valid targets... the power never occured. So, if the monster truly interrupts the power and removes itself from the area in an interrupt fashion, the player MUST choose a second target to use it on. If there are no other available...

And that was the Seelie Court... not even thinking of the Unseelies... Course I also remember something of Shadow Elves... or were they basically transformed into the Shadar Kai? No idea... But Fey != Happy/fun/Sing Alongs....

Ummm, where is this epic destiny? I checked compendium, and cannot find it.

    Broken Wizard combo?

This is one of those combos... wow... It can be used once, maybe twice, per day. It is not a game breaker unless the DM literally only uses 1 encounter per day, and then, only if there is a single vastly important entity involved in that fight. If the DM builds encounters like I do, then...

Errors from previous editions which got repeated.

How so? Play a tempest or battle rager... the BRV in our group doesn't seem to be able to be killed... has a paladin's AC, outdamages a paladin greatly (but not nearly a striker), and takes a lot less damage than the other defenders we have played around with... Fighters seem to be just where...

I am confused... was that a compliment or an insult? :p either way, good points both of you! :D

Do monsters block line of effect?

Creatures are not solid obstacles (unless maybe you are fighting Opaque Gelatinous Cubes, which may count)... Also, something else... Area Burst type attacks are basically like hurling a grenade... the line of sight on the effect is based on the center square of the burst, not on the caster's...

Twin Strike Daggermaster Punisher of the Gods

You must have found some updates for the paladin that make them worth playing... Where are they?!? :p Oh, Forgot! That is what the Avenger is! (the update for the paladin)

Sneak Attack Damage and Critical Hits

My group always rolls the "extras" into the crit, so they are maxed as well... the only things you roll are the extra [w] rolls, and the crit adds from weapon (IE +1d6 per enhancement)... we don't roll anything else, it is all maxed. But I don't know if this is a house-rule of ours, or if it is...
