    Weapon Proficiency: All or nothing?

That means you can freely use weapons you arent proficient with, as long as you are fighting in a disadventaged position. For example, a wizard might use a martial weapon in darkness, with no penalty.

    DDN Alignment Sidebar

A good society that wipes out what they consider evil might not be fine. They might be killing their neiighbours for a reason, and even then, that reason might be wrong. A group of LG templars that burn witches in pyres came to mind. They really really consider witchcraft to be sinful...

[Playtest 2] Wizard and Rogue HD

I agree with this. Actually, the best way to do it would be having "mental hit points" that work as a threshold, so fighters are easier to charm than wizards. But it's not probably worth the effort, hit dice is good enough.

What a steaming pile of otyugh feces!

It's like a goblin. It's fun, but short, and I'm eager to see his bigger cousins later on.

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

Because the dagger came first, and the rapier hit later? That's the point of Vizcaina's. They were used to attack below the guard, as well as used to guard and block.

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

The spanish "vizcaina" was an offensive left hand dagger.

[Playtest 2] Wizard and Rogue HD

True, but two things should be noted: In 5e, a Troll is a 6th level Elite. Adding an extra level to the wizard put him slightly above the troll average damage. In Pathfinder, it's a CR 5. And that said, the Average troll damage is just 10% above the Wizard hitpoints, so a slightly below average...

Indie game designers unite to buy D&D!?

I agree on that. Just like the Telegraph is the headwater of current Internet. However, the importance of telegraph right now is clearly disminishing, and any attempt to "force Google shareholders to " by some kind of telegraph boycott is ludicrous. Even with the big influence it had in the...

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

It also depends if you keep doing 1d6+3 forever ;). Actually, 1d6+3 is quite low, even for a 1st level char, as a human fighter has 18 str by default. As long as Mooks keep being oneshoted (does not really matter if it's 3hp vs 3 dmg or 15 hp vs 15 dmg), DW works nice for mowing down them. And...

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise." Socrates. I think there's nothing new ^^

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

Fair point with the Finesse weapons. So, assuming you hit with 11+, and assuming you crit on 20, a S&B fighter with +4 str will do 0.45*8.5+=.05*12, or 4.2, while a dual wielding fighter will have 0.45*3+0,45*3+0.05*5+0.05*5=3.2 on average. The DW can actually have more use from combat...

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

That's not really a downside, on average. It evens out with the fact that if you miss your first attack with both 1h and TWF, you still can do some damage with TWF. On average, it's the same.

Oh My Goodness! That looks like D&D!

I would like to focus on this, as an example. You are not seeing the whole picture. Except maybe at first level, 5e wizards survive better than pathfinder ones. Take a 12 CON 5th level wizard at PF. It has 5d6+5 hp. Let's face a CR 5 troll. It does 2x 1d6+5 claws, + 1d6+7 Rend, +1d8+5 bite...

    Dual-weapon fighting is extremely lackluster

The benefit is that you are able to kill two goblins in a round, instead of one. When you face 10 goblins and a goblin shaman, being able to cut through the mooks in 5 rounds instead of 10 is a benefit. TWF has always been hard to keep balanced. If you put a lot of hard cap malus, then it's a...

[Playtest 2] Wizard and Rogue HD

I think you haven't realized that hit points do not matter, it's the relation of hit points and monsters' damage output what does. If in Pathfinder a 5th level wizard with Con 12 has 5d6+5 hp, and the regular 5th level troll does 2 attacks of 1d6+5 claws +1d6+7 rend and 1d8+5 bite, the wizard...
