    The More Things Change

I've heard that complain often in Star Wars. That's why most games I know do not play during the Rebellion, because everything that is important is going to be resolved by Luke. It's a common complaint, in my gaming circle at least.

    Big, Strong, and Dumb

That's fine for me. I mean in such gritty, realist world, a PC shoudln't have a way to raise his STR beyond 18 by himself. Of course, some plot element might make it so: if the character *Becomes* a dragon, or whatever, he should have the str of the dragon. In Game of Thrones, PC shouldn't have...

    Need 'Vancian' Imply Slots?

Even the very much toned down 4e Time Stop is prone to abuse. It sounds very good from a balance point of view, but quite complex to remember. It'll make people to need to check the books constantly.

Yep, I 've spent like half an hour reading about it.

Settings - Advancing Timelines, Reimagining, Etc.

My only doubt about this, is which is going to be the Realm Shaking Event in this edition. Because I'm sure there'll be one. It's such a classic.

    Need 'Vancian' Imply Slots?

I like some of your ideas. I think Spells & Powers, from the 2e "skills & powers" ruleset (2.5?) had this as an alternate magic system. Some concerns: It might not satisfy some people, because "it's not D&D". That aside... you need to careful balance things. You can't simply translate the...

Pathfinder 1E A guide to sorcerers

I didn't find it so negative. It was a critic, but a fair critic. I don't mind critics as long as they are polite, and yours was. Your post has helped the guide to be better than it was, I changed the not-so clear paragraph. English is not my first language, so it's more than possible that what...

    Big, Strong, and Dumb

I also think hercules mythicness should be some kind of template/module/dial to put "on" or "off". Paizo's new Mythic Heroes sound good. Hercules is mythic from level 1 to 20. I always thought you should be able to play "game of thrones" and "Diablo 3" from level 1 to level 20, without losing...

    Big, Strong, and Dumb

But you said "what a human can reach". I agree that 1st level humans for regular, gritty style campaings (those starting like The Lord of The Ring power level) should have max 18 str. 20 should be restricted to high fantasy, where humans do huge feats of strength. Achiles, Jason, Sigfried, and...

    Big, Strong, and Dumb

500lb isn't too much for maximum human deadlift. Actually, it's low for *maximum human*. Like *half* maximum human. Benedikt Magnusson -1015 Deadlift - Ronnie Coleman Classic - RAW - YouTube 300lb is close tor what a strong human could press overhead. Mariusz Pudzianowski Shoulder Training...

    Big, Strong, and Dumb

That depends on the story. Hercules is stronger than giants. Maybe there should be a "mood" module. In "gritty" games, humans can go beyond 18. In "fantasy heroic" they can go up to 20. And in "Mythic fantasy" they can go up to 25 or whatever.

Pathfinder 1E A guide to sorcerers

Well, the guide says that Humans are "blue" colored, but if you use APG it's "sky blue" and literally says that having extra spells is better than anything else you can get from any other race. My own sorceror is human. I wanted to give options to people, so they can go and make the sorcerer...

Pathfinder 1E A guide to sorcerers

That's a fair complaint, I'll update the guide later. But however, this is not a guide about how to make a 7th level character that can beat damage records. I gave that as an example of what is possible while in the realm of "blasting", to refute the common argument that "blasting is...

Pathfinder 1E [Fire Mountain Games]Throne of Night

This sounds as a great AP to have, even for those not interested on Sandbox Style or dwarves or drows or whatever. It seems to be a cute "complete underdark" book.

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

This has so much truth in it that I agree 200%. I also endorse you here. And this is where I somewhat disagree. While I the system might be taylored to change and adapt to *groups* in this regard, it cannot addapt to *individuals* to such degrees. As you mentioned before, we all have to agree...

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

I don't think so. He was making a point about "fun" being more important than "realism". He did not made a scale about it, or "how much realism is too much realism". Nor he was talking about complexity. You don't really need to make systems more complex to make them more realistic. For example...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next info from PAX Prime + answering questions

For example, because there are other mechanics related to level that make sense as lvl 5. Making orcs higher level also mean they have higher BAB, higher Save Throws, access to higher level spells, higher number of attacks in a full round, or whatever mechanics the system is going to use. It's...

Pathfinder 1E A guide to sorcerers

That's a very very very personal way to interpret it, I think. You add your Con bonus to the hit die roll for hit points. And you do so in the maximized first level too :P That you have some perk that allow you to roll de damage twice and pick higher (or lower) does not make you to add twice...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next info from PAX Prime + answering questions

Even without extreme examples, maybe a group of 4 lvl 5 orcs have the same threat against a 5x PC group than a group of 3 lvl 5 gnolls and 6 lvl 5 hobgoblins.

    Pathfinder 1E Best Adventure Path?

Those are cool, (I like Carrion Crown a LOT, indeed) but they are quite thematic. People who like horror, or oriental adventures, or pirate movies, will love them, for the rest of the people, they are just meh. Kingmaker, like Runelords and somewhat Curse of Crimson Throne, are "more D&D". They...
