Pathfinder 1E Evil humanoids and the seven deadly sins

That is an awesome answer, indeed. And yes, Hook Mountain Massacre was cool as hell. That's my favourite AP :)

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

Aaaaaannndddd once again here we have one of the reasons D&D will always be doomed. Because it is D&D, so the expectatives are different, and higher, for it. Iron Kingdom can do aditional writing to enrich the monster and place it in the setting. So could do PAthfinder, or 13th Age. D&D, on the...

Pathfinder 1E Evil humanoids and the seven deadly sins

I did, but it sounds to me more wrath than lust. There's cannibalism (gluttony?), lazyness (sloth?), murder (wrath), and yes, rape and incest. But it sounds to me more as an extention of violence than anything more. The ogre patriarch rapes, for the same reason he tortures: because he can, and...

    Pathfinder 1E Best Adventure Path?

We had this feeling very much in 3rd book and beyond. There were a lot of exploration hexes and stuff, and you were somewhat *expected* to explore them before going into the BBEG lair (or you'll be underleveled). However, an entire town vanishing, and the hint of an ancient thread, was too much...

Legends & Lore 09/03 - RPG design philosophy

And some people still show up to be the 3.0 monk. That does not mean they are balanced, and does not even mean monks being cooler couldn't make those people happy too. Not at all. Balance is not only giving the Rogue cool stuff to do in combat. It's also giving the fighter *something* to do...

I'm incredibly surprised about choosing ogres for Lust. Why so?

Legends & Lore 09/03 - RPG design philosophy

Centers are the QB pawns. And they are, actually, a better analogy to fighters and wizards. I might be wrong, but I feel the amount of kids who want to be center, is arguabily much lower than those who want to be QB. And by sure, their wages are lower...

That does not show the game is balanced for short people. Exceptions aren't rules

    D&D 5E (2014) Ardents in 5e

That's a so cheap low troll attempt to edition war, that no answer would make this a constructive conversation.

    Pathfinder 1E Best Adventure Path?

Is that an Errata? Because in the book example, it wasn't like that. See Centaur's outrider consumption 5 (they are paying for their bows, weekly, and they are even paying for they "horses", as they count as cavalry), or the Boggard's consumption of 14, which includes the healing potions...

    Pathfinder 1E Best Adventure Path?

Kingmaker is cool, but you need to house-rule, re-write, or ignore the awful army mechanics. It's just stupidly expensive to pay *one week* of armies, let alone having a regular army recruited. The fact you have to pay their mounts, bows, and armors *weekly* is beyond my acceptable "not so good...

Am I the only one who only use Abominations?

    D&D 5E (2014) Ardents in 5e

That crowd has exactly the same rights to be appeased than the "wha, wha, I won't play 5th edition if I can´t play a Vancian Wizard" crowd. No more, no less.

    D&D 5E (2014) Druids power source for 5e

I agree, in 4e "power sources" didn't have any meaningful impact in gameplay. However, if you plan to do things like "resistance to arcane damage" you are going to need to add an extra keyword to all powers that do arcane damage, and some people already feel the game is cluttered with keywords...

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

Why not? "It's magic". And people who has seen (and killed) dozens of dragons, still have to roll vs dragon fear, in any edition I've played.

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

You mean like those who don't understand martial dailies association with fatigue? Or those who don't understand hit points association with health? Or those who don't understand "rounds" and "initiative" and "full round actions" association with a fluid combat? Because I see people doing any...

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

It's a big gorilla riding an orange donkey playing the banjo right in the middle of the room. It's just that we are used to it, and we understand it is unavoidable without real time computing or extremely complex rules, so we ignore it, and be perfectly happy with it, while other gorillas we are...

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

That's how it *should* reads, but it's not how it happens. Two characters, armed with bows, roll for initiative. Both roll 15, so the one with higher dexterity goes *slightly* faster, just a split of a second. He starts firing, and manage to launch his four arrows (high level, rapid shot, and...

    The Tragedy of Flat Math

Add str bonus, magic items (include str magic items such as gauntlets of ogre power), speialization, buffs like bless... Plus the game does not end in lvl 5. I remember having a Character that had negative Thaco. If I remember well, I was a lvl 16 fighter with -3 or -4 Thaco, in AD&D 2e. That...

    Why have dissociated mechanics returned?

If you have seen how hyenas act, this describe exactly that beheaivor. Hyenas are terrible fierce, cruel, savage and bloodthirsty when in pack. They attack lions, they kill big buffalos, and eat animals alive (literally). But when faced individually, they are coward. Even a dog can scare an...
