    Wizard help for a one-shot

I disagree about Combat Casting unless you need it as a prerequisite for a perstige class. Skill Focus (Concentration) is much, much better. Granted, it only nets you +3 instead of +4, but you get it all the time, not just for casting defensively, but also for casting while grappling, violent...

    Non-core Gestalt Options

Soulknife 5/Illumine Soul 5/Soulbow 10 // Cleric 20 with Zen Archery and eventually Intuitive Attack. Awesome archer, full cleric casting, all good saves, and purely WIS-based. Groovy. Yeah well... there's still the little problems called "damage output" and "survivability". With light armor...

    Non-core Gestalt Options

Lurk//Fighter: kinda like the Psychic Warrior on steroids. Warblade//Wizard: awesome gish, Int synergy, though the roleplaying bit is kinda hard to explain. Warblade//swordsage: Going slightly MAD, but full BAB, 6 skill points, all good saves, Wis to AC in light armor, d12 Hit Dice and the...

    Swift Hunter-like feats and Gestalt

The question remains and becomes even more interesting if you consider "incomplete" builds. For example (mark the word EXAMPLE, it is not meant to be optimal), Rogue 6 / Swash 6 // Fighter 6 / Invisible Blade 6 with Daring Outlaw would get the full benefit of the feat and have SA as a 12th level...

    Swift Hunter-like feats and Gestalt

Here's a little question for a nice debate. There are a bunch of feats out there that allow two class levels to stack to determine the effect of a particular class ability. Think Ascetic Knight, Swift Hunter, Daring Outlaw and such. How do those feats perform while used by Gestalt characters...

Arcane Channelling on Full Attack (Duskblade)

Wizard 18 casting Empowered Disintegrate, 56d6 damage. 49d6 is average 171 damage. It is a pretty normal damage output for a character of that level. I find it an interesting twist of mind that the spell discharges only once per target. It means either the spell is intelligent enough to KNOW...

    Can Arcane Sight see invisibility

Well he can see the aura for sure, but that still doesn't mean he sees the invisible character, resulting in the 50% miss chance. If you want to maintain the surprise effect, Nondetection is your friend.

Arcane Channelling on Full Attack (Duskblade)

Or we may have found the class that actually has a use for Whirwind Attack... :D

Arcane Channelling on Full Attack (Duskblade)

The spell can affect the same target multiple times. That's the point of the ability, in fact. And it can be quite devastating, true enough, OTOH, duskblades have to be good at SOMEthing, don't they. And that something is damage dealing. A 18th level duskblade with GTWF channeling Vampiric Touch...

This is going to look pathetic ...

Crystalkeep has included the artificer in the PDF on base classes. Should be enough for a first impression.

    Gestalting

A few nice and simple Gestalt combinations involving Psionics... Monk 2/Fighter 18 // Psychic Warrior: Wis synergy, more smack and HP than Monk // PsyWar and a whole bunch of feats, though the saves aren't that good. Fighter 4 / Monk 6 / Fist of Zuoken 10 // Psychic Warrior 20: alternative to...

Staff of Shadow evocation greater question

Hi there! What, Conjuration or Transmutation isn't damage-dealing enough for you? Orbs, Unicorn Arrow, Arc of Lightning, Disintegrate, Lightning Leap, Transmute Rock to Lava... To identify a spell upon casting using Spellcraft, you must be able to see its verbal or somatic components, which...

Would this be using Bluff or Diplomacy?

Oh, c'mon. Just create the Bluffomancy skill just for this character.

    Beguilers - too powerful?

Beguilers are a plain awesome class. They get d6 HP and armored casting, 6 skill points per level while being Int-based, have a great skill list, can cast as many spells per day as a Sorcerer but know automatically all spells associated to their level. Hello? What do you want more? Lack of...

Metamagic and Warlocks, and pesky wands

    - Metamagic Feats apply only to spells. Warlock don't cast spells. - Quicken SLA or Empower SLA can be used to empower a warlock's Eldritch Blast or some of his invocations. The choice is pretty limited, though. - You use your own modifier on ranged attacks while firing a wand. - The spell DC...

    Ideas for a too-multiclassed character

Ugh... Spellsword is good for a max. 3-level dip, no more. Half caster level hurts pretty much. Well I'd suggest retraining those ranger levels into Sorcerer, and go Unseen Seer. It's a really nice class.

Can Monks imbue their unarmed attacks?

Special abilities... why not. Keen or Vorpal would require Versatile Unarmed Strike before, because they only work witk slashing weapons, and an unarmed strike is bludgeoning.

    Questions about 2 Feats

??? Gotta explain this one. Always thought Duskblades could only channel spells that were on the Duskblade's Spell List, and not spells gained from other classes.

    optimized minotaur barbarian

LA and racial hit dice are two separate things. They both add up to the class level for determining Effective Character Level (ECL). When told to create a character level X, you should read it as "ECL X". You can't take Lion's Pounce with your character. Lion's Pounce requires you to have the...
