Help me build an 11th level ranger (please)

GreenRanger, if you mean Melee Training then a) it only works on basic attacks (so you aren't attacking with both weapons) b) if you're planning on mixing it in melee and ranged Fading Strike is a better option and it's not like you have much need for another at-will with Twin Strike getting...

Help me build an 11th level ranger (please)

If you go for a Hunter build then you can use Fading Strike for Attacks of Opportunity. It also gives you a bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity, Quickdraw and lets you put a weapon away as a free action. Considering you'll be changing weapons quite often that's probably a better pick...

    You Can't Take Short Rests

A lot of it is going to depend on how things are set out. If you're taking 1 actual encounter and spreading it over a large area so that they aren't going to reinforce each other then it's probably going to make things simpler for the PCs. a hard encounter split into 2 makes control of enemies...

Rant on Errata and what Wizards need to do to move forward.

As S'mon says the majority of errata is fairly minor and clarification Big parts of the system that have been errated are Stealth Skill difficulties Skill challenges Battlerager fighter approach there have been some other issues but in terms of big sections of the rules with problems IMO...

    Help with Halfling Ranger Build

The battlefield archer build gets close to a melee archer build One of the big points with it is that a) you get an action point when you kill something 1/encounter b) once you spend an action point you get +5 AC vs opportunity attacks on top of the bonus feat (Defensive Mobility) which gives...

    Help with Halfling Ranger Build

yeah, I'd forgotten about that. I considered it for my Archer ranger but it's only usable by a hunter for Attacks of opportunity so I ended up not bothering.

    Help with Halfling Ranger Build

Until you get Melee Training (dex) there's not much point worrying about making opportunity attacks. With 10 str you're rarely going to hit.

Laser cleric of Pelor power stacking issue

On the other hand considerably closer to help from other characters than the ranger 20 squares away when the 2 lurkers attack him...

Thief seems overpowered to this new/old DM

you can take a few hits, you also have pretty high AC as an archer ranger. You also have several utility powers as an archer ranger in paragon tier which let you shift away either on creatures becoming adjacent or after they hit you so if you want to get in the enemies face you can escape twice...

Planes Above, sucks to be good.

It depends what's involved in ending up in the wall. I agree that it's very hard to say that "the gods don't exist" in the FR but it's not entirely unbelievable that a character could believe in the gods but not actually worship any of them specifically. A wizard could well believe in all the...

D&D 4E Would 4e work better if it used "round phases"

Problematic with the number of things that push, pull, shift as part of an attack. Or can move more than 1/round... (e.g. a Kobold with Shifty) consider a ranger and a rogue move to flank a monster who has a shift 1 power as part of an attack. The monster won initiative over both of them. The...

Warden Thorn Strike melee 2 with Polearm

Nope, if the power has a specific range specified the reach of the person using it doesn't matter. reach matters if the range is 'weapon'

    Best 3 Character Group

looking at the party you're probably going to be short on damage so if you want a defender then a fighter might be the best option. You could either go a high damaging build (say a big 2 handed weapon or tempest fighter) or you could go for area control with a polearm. A melee striker wouldn't...

    Melee attacks with thown weapons?

It depend on the weapon. If the weapon is located in the simple, martial or superior melee weapons table then yes you can. Examples are Javelins, Daggers, Hand-Axes. If it's only in the missile weapons table (shuriken is the only one that springs to mind) then you can't. So you're fine to use...

    Arena Weapon Fighter Build Question

No, not everybody is agreeing what the intended meaning is. I think it's likely that they only meant for the bonuses to apply but I'm not sure about it. What they have actually written clearly says that the feat as a whole applies if they provide a feat bonus to hit or damage. People are...

    Arena Weapon Fighter Build Question

It's not an obvious interpretation of what they've written. It may well be what they intended to write and I can certainly see an argument for house ruling it but it's not an actual interpretation of the ability as written.

Opportunity Attacks - no limit ?

His argument is that it modifies Opportunity Attack because the feat specifically says so. His argument is that it doesn't change the conditions for the Melee Attack because it doesn't mention the Melee Attack being modified. So you need to be able to make the Melee Attack under the standard...

    Arena Weapon Fighter Build Question

The wording on Arena Weapon Fighter Build is interesting "You select two weapons as your arena weapons. If you are not already proficient with these weapons, you gain proficiency with them. In addition, any of your feats that grant feat bonuses to attack rolls or damage rolls with one of your...

How does the Gauntlet Axe work?

From the Dark Sun Campaign Setting book I'm not quite sure how this is meant to work. It says that it functions as an axe but keeps the hand free. It also states that it functions as a light shield. the Tortoise Blade has a footnote in the table saying that it can function as a light shield...

Monster recharge rolls at the end of the turn

Let's not forget that a monster having an attack available doesn't mean that they should use it straight away. If PCs scatter when a dragon's breath weapon is ready then a lot of dragons can tail slap the defender out of the way or to the ground and go and attack weaker members of the party.
