    Alignment/Multiclassing/DM Screen/Power Source From I-Con

Now that I like the sound of. I'll be able to quickly and easily beef up my favorite magic items rather then replacing them for the New Next Best Thing (TM).

D&D is dying by the hour

What sacred cows are you talking about? Cause a lot of them are still there. We still have Armor Class We still have Hit Points (Unfortunately) We still have a class system, with Fighters, Wizards, Clerics, Rogues, Rangers, Paladins, etc We still roll d20's to hit We still have Elves...

Cleave: Give me room to work, my minions!

Look at Kathra's Strength modifier and you'll have your answer. No. The 18 Str Fighter deals 4 points of damage while the 12 Str Fighter deals 1 point.

Cleave: Give me room to work, my minions!

You really think people are gonna carry around bags full of rats just so they can attack the rats and cleave a tougher opponent? Who in their right mind would go through all that trouble just to score 3 points of damage on a bad guy when they could be inflicting 1d10+5 damage? Who in their right...

D&D 4E Additional first level 4E characters - alternative race/class combos from pregens

A simple solution to that would've been to choose a power from another class. The Half-Elf Warlock has an extra power which likely derives from a racial ability and got a Wizard Attack with it. Likely Humans can get the same, in which case why not give Regdar Bolstering Strike (Paladin)? Or...

    D&D 4E 4E Wizard = Harry Potter Wizard?

No, it's Leviosa, not Leviosa. :p

    D&D 4E 4E Wizard = Harry Potter Wizard?

I don't know if Harry Potter was the impetus for implements coming about, but if so, I'm glad. I never much cared for the rules for staffs and wands in prior editions of D&D. They were never used the way they were used in other fantasy stories, as a tool for the wizard to channel his magic...

D&D is dying by the hour

Backwards compatibility is really a losing battle. It's pointless trying to build a new rules system, while allowing stuff written with the old rules system in mind, because a lot of the stuff from the old rules will end up either nerfed or broken as a result. Warhammer 40k is having just that...

If they ever do a Drizzt movie....

I didn't say that. :p I was just pointing out that the D&D movie wasn't bad because it had new characters, but because it was just badly made. Besides, what are now famous characters were at one point all-new characters.

If they ever do a Drizzt movie....

The D&D movie was horrible because it was a badly written piece of garbage with a talentless hack at the helm, not because it created all-new characters. In other words, if the same people behind the D&D movie were behind a Drizzt movie, would that Drizzt movie not suck big time? Just look at...

Which WotC settings in 4th Edition?

I gotta say, even if WotC took the latter tack, I'd be MORE then satisfied when it came to Ravenloft. I just want to see it converted to 4th edition. Further support through DDI beyond a campaign setting book would be fine as long as it got support. I just want a 4E campaign setting book.

Here's a list of published settings. Which are good for the PoL style?

The Warhammer Fantasy world is the perfect Points of Light setting. Hell, there's a one page short story in I forget which book which pretty much screams "POINTS OF LIGHT!!!" at the top of its lungs. Hell, when I first read the Points of Light article, I immediately thought of Warhammer and...

    D&D 4E 4E PrRC ~v2.7~ FINAL UPDATE May 29.08

I was looking at this and was wondering about Bold (+5 to Save Vs Fear). Is it certain that this is a Halfling racial ability? Because it seems more like a Paladin class ability to me.

    D&D 4E 4E PrRC ~v2.7~ FINAL UPDATE May 29.08

The ones on the Wizards site are revised versions with mistakes corrected. So yeah, Ray of Frost is an Encounter Power.

Does a paladin's daily require him to drop his sword?

Yeah. Make sure you're looking at the updated character sheets, as the old ones say they're required, when that's incorrect. As for implement, I wonder if a sword or shield could be used as an implement? I imagine the implement is a holy symbol. Couldn't a Paladin have a shield with the...

    Implements

Not just Harry Potter. Same goes for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Sorceress are all pretty powerful wizards. Take away their staffs, though, and they're defenseless (Well, not Skeletor, as he's apparently a multiclassed Fighter/Wizard. So when he's not casting...

D&D 4E 4E Mechanics can reduce the need for combat!

Well, that's good. Quick and clean way to play a character who has a vow against killing or something similar without gimping him mechanically.

    Halfling ranger does 1d10+5 w/bow?

You forget one thing. A Halfling Ranger wouldn't be using a regular longbow, as it's to big for them. Their version would probably do d8 damage at best.

D&D 4E The 4e human racial package: what we know

Bumping because I'm still curious about this. Who made up the characters sheets, and where did he say that he miscalculated when writing them up? Enquiring minds want to know. Thanks.

To the Designers: May we please have the DDXP errata?

Here're some of the changes I've picked up on. - Corrin the Halfling Paladin's WILL DEFENSE went down from 16 to 14. - Old Corrin the Halfling Paladin's sheet read as follows: It now reads... - Erais the Human Cleric's Initiative Bonus went from a +1 to a +0. - Erais the Human...
