What Replaces Psychic Combat in the Revised Psionics Handbook?

From what I've heard psychic combat has been done away with in the Revised Psionics Handbook. I was a little disapointed to hear that. Although, the rules for psychic combat weren't the best, I liked the idea because it gave psionic characters flavor and differentiated them from spellcasters...

    Expanded Psionics: Buying?

Nope, 3.0e psionics are good enough for me!

What reading level are most games written for?

Flavor Text It seems to me that most RPG rule books that I have read are written at a middle school reading level at the highest. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing. Afterall, RPG books are meant to provide players with rules, not be a verbose, complex treatise. If the language gets to...

    Epic Levels and d20 Modern

I've been toying around with a pulp sci-fi/steampunk setting in my head for some time. I finally decided to go with d20 Modern Rules since they are the most cinematic. However, I realized that I'm going to need to use Epic level rules for some of the NPCs (and the PCs after a point). For...

Why all the Second Edition Haters?

I don't "hate 2e", in fact I have several fond memories of some 2e games that I played. To be honest 2e had some of the best supplements. 2e settings such as Dark Sun and Birthright were some of the best RPG settings ever created. However, with that said, I did have some serious problems with...

I got to playtest Castles and Crusades!

Sorry! Sorry, I didn't even think about anything before blabbing! Since, there was never any mention of a NDA, the thought never crossed my mind until later. Still, I'll mention one thing. The game was fun! I don't know much about the rules, other than what I already mentioned...

What is your Opinion of GURPS?

I really like GURPS. The big advantage of GURPS is that you can play just about any character you can imagine. D&D often limits characters to archetypes, but GURPS can allow for non-stereotypical characters. Want a mage that fights in armor and uses swords? GURPS can do it! Want a barbarian...

I got to playtest Castles and Crusades!

I'm not sure, but I think the Troll Lord guys said that they were hoping to have the initial rule book out by summer.

I got to playtest Castles and Crusades!

Well, the main mechanic of roll 1d20 and add appropriate modifiers is used. (As opposed to the many percentile rolls used in 1e and 2e). Other than that, most everything tries to emulate 1e D&D.

    Angels/Demons in Gaming: Your stories

So will the players be playing angels like In Nomine, or just mortals caught up in everything? If the players are playing mortals, I think that the idea of temptation and deception by demons will work much better than big fights. However, I have never played in a campaign where players played...

    Angels/Demons in Gaming: Your stories

First of all, if you want to give your campaign the feel of In Nomine, it might help to have a large monotheistic religion rather than the diverse pantheon of the typical D&D game. There should be more of a "black and white" morality, and have the focus on the struggle of good and evil. Also...

    D&D 4E Betting on 4e

Although the press release is a fake, I'm pretty sure that there are plans for 4e deep within the bowels of WotC's headquarters. Being a business, WotC is in it for profit. A company makes money by selling products (In this case books). Seeing the success of 3.5e, I have no doubt that WotC is...

How did you find EN World?

Well, I'm a long timer. I remember searching for info on the then rumored D&D3e. Lo and behold, I came across a little site run by Eric Noah. I soon started visiting it regularly for updated reports on 3e. After 3e was finally released, I still couldn't bring myself to quit visiting it, so...

[TOUCHY SUBJECT] Why all the hate for min-maxing?

All dese people complainin' about min-maxin' just be playa' haters! ;) Seriously, I don't see much of a problem. Min-maxing is just a derogatory term used to refer to a certain style of character creation. I prefer powerful characters because it allows the game to be more epic and more...

    Chinese vs. Japanese

Man, I never knew that Japanese was such a profane language! Maybe I should have used the plain form of the verb kakaserareta rather than the polite form which includes the letters s, h, i, and t!
