A few question about Eden's Book of War

I'm excited that after waiting for some time, it appears that Eden Studio's Fields of Blood: Book of War will be out soon. I have a few questions about the book: 1. How does the mass combat system function? Can it be played with miniatures and counters, or is it more abstract? 2. Is it...

    3.5 backcompatibility: what's to assume?

3.5e backwards compatible? Yeah right! Although WotC claimed that the new edition would be backwards compatible, most of the stuff they are releasing completely supersedes 3.0e. Go figure!

Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

HELL NO! The local B. Daltons in my home town even refuses to carry High Times magazine. I would be really surprised if they decided to carry BoEF. As for my FLGS, I'm not sure. A while back the owner said he might get a copy and keep it sealed, but I haven't heard or seen anything since.

    AIEEE!!! CN is not insanity!!!!

I'm so glad that 3e redefined CN,so that it now actually makes sense! Back in 2e days, to many players used CN as an excuse to do whatever they wanted to.

    The Complete Warrior: Buying?

Some of the stuff sounds neat, but I seriously doubt I'll buy it. I'm trying to save money, so unless it's REALLY good I'm not buying. Plus, I've been boycotting WotC since the release of 3.5e

What RPG systems do you like?

Besides D&D, I also like GURPS. The advantage to GURPS is that you can legally play just about any type of character that you want. Want a mage who can fight with a sword? No problem. Want a gunslinger with a hidden supernatural gift? GURPS will allow it! Want a werewolf biker? Yes, you...

Does anyone miss the generic cleric?

Actually this isn't my current group. The person who was a conservative Christian played with me in high school some years ago. He really didn't have a major problem with D&D, but was a little uncomfortable about having religion play an active role in the game. Overall it wasn't a major...

Does anyone miss the generic cleric?

I definately see a detailed pantheon adding flavor to a game. I guess that to some to extent, my main problem is that 3e almost forces polytheism. Of course, polytheism has been in the D&D game from the earliest days. However, 3e really makes it seem inextricably linked to the game. The...

So what can you tell me about "Antediluvian"?

When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a...

Does anyone miss the generic cleric?

Actually, I've played in games where cities were just places to sell loot. :D I think it's interesting that most people are able to able to accept many totally generic and evasive D&D concepts, but are not able to accept a generic religion. Take for example languages. In most campaigns I've...

Does anyone miss the generic cleric?

There was a poll awhile back about godless clerics. That got me thinking about early incarnations of the game where clerics served generic religions. The 2e PHB even said that in the basic game clerics served religions that only needed to be described as "good" or "evil". Although I like the...

    Ravenloft -- Thoughts?

I really like Ravenloft. The irony is that I HATE most gothic horror games. Somehow, Ravenloft is different. That difference is why I like it. The idea of a constantly mutating landscape, false histories (aka Dark City, 13th Floor, or The Matrix), and dark secrets really appeals to me. Plus...

Poll : Do you allow godless clerics?

I like the idea of "godless" clerics from a game standpoint. It allows the DM to customize a campaign. Believe it or not, not every DM runs a campaign that assumes a polytheistic pantheon made up of token deities. I've seen campaigns that run the gamut from animistic (every natural thing has...

Tell me about 2E's excessive product-necessity

Well, many supplements assumed that you were using the Battlesystem miniature rules. For example, there were several spells in Tome of Magic that refered to the Battlesystem rules. Half of the Castle Guide was new rules for use with Battlesystem.

When did the Monster Manual 2 become a core book?

Let's face it, WotC is no longer the same company that it was when it first acquired the D&D license. Gone are Monte Cook, Ryan Dancey, and all of the other people who helped make 3e a success. Also gone are the principles that they established. No supplement was supposed to require anything...

    KoK language rule

If you recall, a while back I was asking about eliminating the common tongue in my homebrew on the general forum. I decided to use the KoK Player's Guide language variant rules. However, I have a few questions about the specific details of the rules: 1. How do you handle native languages? I...
