News Digest: Background Checks for WPN Volunteers and Store Employees, New D&D 5e Release Details, G

The idea of a background check is good, in my estimation, but WotC should definitely be the ones doing it instead of pushing the hurdle over to their end-clients.

News Digest: Background Checks for WPN Volunteers and Store Employees, New D&D 5e Release Details, G

Quite biased reporting on the background vetting underway. I'd say more people were happy to see something done than was upset. I mean... Checking for pedophiles among people with positions of power and influence over children is hardly a new thing in sports, hobbies etc. Hambly was digging up...

The Best Movie About RPGs in 2018 (So Far)

Everything I've read about Jumanji seems awesome. Most things The Rock touches turns to gold, and is usually very enjoyable too!

North Texas RPG Convention Refuses To Listen To Harassment Concerns

Title is almost clickbait, because the guy basically says he won't tolerate any kind of harassment at the con. So why the need to post about it other than to stir a pot that didn't need stirring in his case? I feel that some of these debates are turning into something of a witch hunt at times...

Pre-Order DLC comes to D&D with Xanathar's Guide to Everything

That app better arrive soon. It's the number one reason for DDB's existence imo, and I think they ought to be presenting something from it fairly soon in order not for me to lose faith in them. I really enjoy using DDB on my PC when running a session, but all my players are waiting for the...

D&D 5E (2014) Which 5E book is the best casual read?

I haven't read a lot, but Out of the Abyss is a great adventure but not a fun read for most parts. :-) I just got Volo's and I'm looking forward to perusing it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tome of Beasts 5E

CRs are all over the place, but the book is sooooo good! :-) I use it frequently.

D&D Beyond Launches -- Electronic Tools For D&D Are Here!

*Grin* That might have worked too. I didn't get a lot of objections though, the group is fairly optimistic. We sprang for a master account and a bunch of books, and then hooked everyone's free accounts up to the campaign. Quite surprising that my players can only make a new character using the...

D&D Beyond Launches -- Electronic Tools For D&D Are Here!

I more or less told my group: "This is what we are buying if you want me to keep GM'ing." Worked with no objections. :-)

Crystal Shard, Dragonspear etc? Or what do you mean by Next play test adventures?

That is grand! Found the code for linking to homebrew stuff yet?

D&D Beyond Launches -- Electronic Tools For D&D Are Here!

So far, I haven't found the maps very cleverly implemented. I can view them in a standard galleri-like feature where the surrounding webpage fades somewhat. Not particularly helpful. No map tools or seperate views for DM and player maps. There is zoomed parts of the maps though in seperate...

D&D Beyond Launches -- Electronic Tools For D&D Are Here!

Tried running my Out of the Abyss session last night with the digital tools. Was very handy to have it all on-screen, with monster stats when I moused over things etc. :-) Perhaps a way to pin bits of the module would make it even better, because I ended up opening three distinct tabs to have...

DDEX1-6 The Scroll Thief GM notes and discussion

I introduced a bunch of NPCs that were recurring for the factions (some from the modules and some of my own), giving missions here and there. Then again, I didn't use the reknown system at all, as we had trouble using it. I sort of homebrewed a lot for the scenarios to make it all fit together etc.

    D&D 5E (2014) Recommended apps and software

So I've been trying out some of these. Monster Workbench has a lot of potential, and I see there's an app now too. Lots of quick generation and a cool throwback sort of feel to it! The Monster Maker is a great tool - just fantastic. Good for private AND professional use imo. I've used Donjon...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Phase 2 and 3 are open beta!

I like what I'm seeing in the character builder so far. Replicated my 5th level paladin in 5 minutes (without most equipment, mind).

It seems like a fact in that report, but I guess an FBI agent would present anything found as facts. :-)

Gygax avoided paying taxes through a Liberian holding company?? That's news to me. Interesting finds.
