Sorry, but no on all scenarios. In the Spellsword case you are advancing one level in your arcane casting class. That would be your Wizard or Sorcerer or Beguiler or other arcane casting class. The divine casting class is not part of this. For all the PrCs I've seen (bar the theurge types...

I'm with Danny. I prefer a 'Gish' build. I like the versatility. Also, one of my first characters in 1E was an Elf Fighter/MU.

That's because they spent their skill points on things other than literacy!

One of the better ones was when the PC jumped on the back of the remorhaz after being told that it was glowing hot. He failed his save.

Yes, my experience too. I think your best time to have picked them up was right after 4.0 came out and folks were dumping their 3.5 stuff in order to have the cash to buy the new version of the game. For the core rules, your gaming group can probably get by with one PHB and the SRD. Just...
