    Knowledge, knowledge and more knowledge!

Persuade your DM to allow Call to Mind as a Wizard spell. Then make wands of this spell. You now pwn Knowledge checks. One other thing. Does your Wizard have a familar? Your familiar has all of your skills. And it can automatically Aid Another you on any skill that it has +9 in for a +2 bonus.

Memorable city fight encounter? ran it last night!

Don't forget crowds. Crowds are the rough terrain of the city. Put pennies and/or pente stones randomly on about half of the squares of the streets. The DMG describes crowds (so does the SRD), such that it takes double movement to move through a square with a crowd. They are going to be in the...

Size Small Caster--Benefit, Detriment, or Neutral?

I normally select small races for arcane/psion casters. Last one was a kobold beguiler. Before that a kobold sorcerer. Hm, I sense a pattern....

    Tumbling in full plate

I have read in the past that there is a video somewhere in the internets that shows someone doing acrobatic maneuvers while wearing heavy armor. My google-fu is weak today. If someone could provide a link to this video, I would appreciate it.

    Spells Centered on You

Three months after 3e came out, I ran a 20th level one shot and the colossal red dragon cast antimagic shell. I ran into the same quandry as the original poster. I ruled that it was on his claws, which allowed him to snatch someone with anti magic, but the rest of him was unaffected by the AMS...

    Attacking a grappled target

Also, if your target is pinned, there is no "roll randomly" chance to hit other grapplers. It's only when you are attacking a grappled opponent with a ranged attack.

    Need help phrasing a wish.

Here's my suggestions for constructing and troubleshooting the wording of a wish spell.

    Resist Energy, Mass

It's 5th level for all casters in my game. It was very good 3rd level spell when it used the 3.0 resist energy. I used it quite a bit as a druid in Living Arcanis and transformed nasty fights into cakewalks. Now it's brokenly good with the 3.5 version.

    7 Dwarven Kings

Too much of a sausagefest for me. Queens did exist in medieval times. It's not just a modernism.

Using a Beholder for the first time.

One thing that has thrown off the DMs I know is the fact that Beholder is a subspecies of Beholder. Most DMs turn to the page in the monster manual with the picture and the "complete" description of the Beholder, not realizing that there are rules on the previous page that govern the Gauth and...

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

Hard evidence that Belkar is evil.

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

But everyone knows that halflings just can't possibly be intimidating, right?

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Kobolds

Here 'ya go!. Just erase "dire weasels", then pencil in the name "Slurks". Good wins; evil loses!

Why is Deathwatch Evil, and Seed of Undeath not?

It is a matter of bad design. It was added in 3.5 and it shouldn't have been. If a spell is labeled [Evil], then there should be no non-evil way of using that spell. Casting an [Evil] spell should always be an evil act. I'm using the absolute morality feature of D&D cosmology as the basis of my...

So, if I have at least +14 in my Ride skill, I can always get a cover bonus from my mount?

Tell me about the Free City of Greyhawk

I'm running Shackled City and my players need to go to a metropolis to buy and sell major magic items. Of particular interest to my players would be anything specific to Pelor, Kord, or Wee Jas. But where can I find some material on what the city of Greyhawk is about? It's distinctive features...

    The fastest gnome alive!

The Extreme Leap trick in the Complete Scoundrel allows you to spend a swift action to move an additional 10 feet on that turn if you make a horizontal jump of at least 10 feet during your turn. Also, your speedy gnomezales will be able to jump over blocking Balors at high levels since you get...

    Knowledge (Local) for humanoids

Here's how my DM set up Knowledge(local) to work based on regions. For every rank in K:Local you get, you can select the region. The scope affects the DCs. So, you could take Forgotten Realms as a region for example, and you would be able to answer very general questions about the politics of...

    Knowledge (Local) for humanoids

One of my DMs has a richly detailed campaign world with well-realized NPCs and organizations, distinctive cultures, and a many-layered history. He is also a prankster at heart and loves secrets. Which means that socially interacting in his world is a series of social traps that are set to have...
