flying - bonus to move silent?

I think that a logical house rule is that the fly spell grants +10 to your Move Silently. Just like alter self/polymorph adds +10 to Disguise checks and grease adds +10 to escape a grapple. But, it would be a house rule.

    Bard's magical items

Circlet of Persuasion is attractive to a bard. So is the Rod of Splendors. My bard loved his Staff of the Magi! :)

Good Uses for Sleight of Hand?

I have a good one. You know how you need to touch someone using disguise self or a hat of disguise before you can make a will save against the illusion, right? Well, the sleight of hand skill lets you do it without being noticed. Which can be important if you are interacting with someone in a...

    Library Research

Here's my house rule for research. It's intended to be used in the libraries of Shackled City. I use the same method for Gather Information checks. Oh, and this Loremaster pwns your library. :)

    Beguiler

My two choices so far. From the Spell Compendium. 1) Distract Assailant 2) Ray of Stupidity (no save! stackable INT damage! Helpless at 0 INT!)

    Resting in a Dungeon Crawl

Figuring out the keys and doors is minor puzzle to be solved with real benefit if it is solved. I would leave it to the players. Even nongamers can make that connection.

    Building 16th level Chararcter

Actually, sorcerers gain free use of their skill points and feat choices by not entering a prestige class. I have not entered a prestige class with my cleric because of this.

    countering invisibility with illusion?

I mentally insert "THIS, I COMMAND!" in the statements I make. :) I have used see invisibility/dancing lights in the manner you have. And it was so that the other PCs could pinpoint the location of the invisible opponent. With full concealment, of course. THIS, I COMMAND!

Ever run a high level party through a low level module?

Yes, I use low level adventure sites for my high level games on a very regular basis. With high level gaming, I like to think BIG! The entire multiverse is the "dungeon," teleport/wind walk/plane shift is the "hallway," the target location is the "room," and if that location happens to be...

I know it was a joke but...(complete riding dog)

The Arms & Equipment guide has some cool fantasy mounts. My DM used the riding lizard to be the mount for the dwarven paladin.

What class has changed the least through the editions?

One answer is to do what Monte Cook did in his Arcana Evolved setting and have healing magic available to every spellcaster.

A good advices on high-level campaigns...

Read Monte Cook's Design Secrets: High Level Adventures to learn about the unique game elements that high level play will bring. It's a different game at high levels and you need to be ready for it. And this is the article that had it all click for me in my head, and I learned how to stop...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

I remember playing in 2nd edition campaigns where we would have around a hundred thousand gps each, but nothing to buy. Whereas if we were playing Cyberpunk or Shadowrun, we would be able to buy various upgrades after each adventure. The old way sucked. And, no. I don't want to take an adventure...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

Check my sig to see why buying and selling magic items is a good thing. Right now, I'm running Shackled City. There is a magic shop, but it has a specific inventory of around twenty items. But there are also alternatives to "the Magic Shop" that round out the experience. To start with, the...

    Regarding Spider Climb

I allow the halfling druid in my game to fight while mounted on his riding dog with spider climb. The dog needed a trick to use spider climb and they also needed an exotic saddle for him to be able to ride the dog at various angles. Except that I also ruled that if the character also had spider...

Illusionist with a hostage, what would you do?

As a player, I genuinely hate hostage scenarios. What the DM considered to be a dramatic situation, I see as the DM robbing the PCs of any way possible to resolve the situation. I only had one DM do hostage situations in a regular bases, but if he was ever to do another one, I believe that I...

    A Question About Eric Noah

Eric Noah can kill anyone he wants! He cut off heads ALL the time and doesn't even think twice about it. Eric Noah is so crazy and awesome that he flips out ALL the time. I heard that Eric Noah was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon he killed the whole town. My friend...

Help and suggestions for riding animals needed

Have him ride a medium-sized humanoid. A fighter with a tower shield and a kurisari gama. Use the Exotic saddle from the PH for the harness. Is that sufficiently distinctive and interesting?
