Wulf's Collected Story Hour -- FINAL UPDATE 12/25

Yeah, it's not exactly readying out of init, which I do try to avoid as well. It's all about when you rule combat to begin. So you scry the BBEG. Someone there notices the scrying sensor. You roll init immediately for everyone cause the ambush has been blown. If the teleporter goes early, you...

    Name this Bow!

I just recently crafted this bow and I'm having a lot of trouble naming it, and my friends aren't being very helpful about it. My PC is a moon elf archer/transmuter from Evermeet. He's a warrior scholar who came to the mainland to study the other races and to learn more about the abandoned...

Need Good Fantasy Literature Recommendations (again)

I'll repeat some here, but that should just be some positive reinforcement. George RR Martin: Oh, just BUY them already. You'll like them. Glen Cook: Yep, the Company is good stuff. I second the recommendation of his detective novels. Light and entertaining reads. Barry Hughhart, Bridge of...

Did I screw up? (fighter feat selction)

That link is good, but overly simplistic. You don't have to have sneak attack or energy weapons to do good damage while dual wielding. One thing often ignored in these discussions are crits. If you have a good crit range combined with your str, magic and power attack, you'll do impressive...

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

It's a decent way to handle it, but in this case IMO it doesn't quite work. Since the creature can see some of you (or know you're hiding behind the cover) it should get a normal attack compared to your AC including the cover bonus. If the attack roll is enough to hit you then it hits, cause he...

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

Yup. An area spell is not a targetted spell so you would get a reflex bonus based on how much cover the tower is giving you against the caster.

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

It's a specific exception under the description of tower shield. Even though you place the tower like a barrier you still need to hold, brace and direct it. Due to this it's considered a "part of you" and can be targeted by touch attacks.

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

 Sorry if I sounded harsh at the start there.

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

For reg touch, cover works unless it's a tower shield. For incorp...that's an interesting question. I would say that it would be DM discretion based on the situation. Of course if it was force cover it would work...but for regular cover maybe I would convert the cover % to concealment since the...

Toronto Gamers! (Or Ontario Gamers) Introduce Yourself

Heh, those guys from Tusmit were a riot. I DMed them all day Saturday and we had a blast. Unfortunately I killed one in the Master Maze on Sunday when I kept critting them with battleaxe-wielding Dwarven Fighters. :( I will say Al that there were only about 2 tables worth of "foreigners" (about...

    Enchanted Spiked Shield

Yep, they stack. Note however that since the defending enhancement states that you must be weilding the weapon, not just holding it, that could indicate that you must be using the shield as a weapon and taking off hand penalties to hit. Also, you don't necessarily need to spend that much money...

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

Uh Icebear, you may want to read what I wrote. I was always arguing against the position that force armor doesn't work against incorp touch attacks. I was just stating my disappointment that the excellent posts made in this thread to prove that bracers DO work against incorp touch were...

    Living Greyhawk help

There is a bit of a problem signing up for the RPGA since they went free. There is no online method right now. However, all RPGA members have been mailed blank membership cards so that they can sign up other people. Also, the con you're going to will probably have a membership card for you...

Toronto Gamers! (Or Ontario Gamers) Introduce Yourself

While I'm not a huge LG fan, it's a little more active in Toronto at the moment since there are more recently-released scenarios available. In fact, there will be a second Weekend in Ket in Toronto in November, where the next 3 regional scenarios will be released. I know that there have been a...

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

The club of being forgotten when Caliban enters the thread apparently...:p You go offline for a few hours and miss everything...that's how it always is. Seriously though, I'm glad that DMFTodd has seen the light (:p again) but I would've hoped that the arguements presented in this thread...

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

I base it on the fact that it's called incorporeal touch, not just touch. Different name, different animal. [b] Are you saying that a touch attack isn't a physical attack?

    Incorporeal Vs. Bracers of Armor

Incorporeal touch attacs aren't true touch attacks. They're unique in that Bracers work against them. Check out incorp in the DMG for details. All incorp creatures have their attacks listed as incorp touch. Now, if a Wraith with class levels cast a touch spell on a PC, then Bracers wouldn't help.

Toronto Gamers! (Or Ontario Gamers) Introduce Yourself

Hmmm, don't think I'll be making Conthulu. I'm not interested in a lot of the stuff going on there. Plus, I'm broke. :( Grimmcon: www.grimmcon.com There's all kinds of gaming going on at this one, RPGA stuff and more. I'll be DMing most of the Living City modules. Should be fun. Nick

    Worst Class/ PrC

Worst PrC? Geomancer comes to mind...it just seems such a hodgepodge of abilities without real purpose. That and the whole mix around all your spellcasting thing just begs for powergaming. I like most of the classes, but Rangers have issues and fighters should really get more skill points...

Toronto Gamers! (Or Ontario Gamers) Introduce Yourself

I'm in North Toronto, gaming since 1980. I'm heavily into the RPGA but have a new casual home game as well. Anybody go to Weekend in Ket last weekend? It was in Guelph. I was there judging and hanging out. I was the tall guy with glasses and goatee wearing a brown vest and constantly drinking...
