Munskins/Power gaming - Two weapon fighting feat with two bastard sword

The 3.0 Tempest was a horrible and weak class. You needed to be very high level, and of the two abilities it granted you couldn't use them at the same time. Essentially you eventually got a 4th off hand attack (at -16) at 19th character level. whoopee. And then you had to give up those 4...

High level 3.5 - tricks for keeping the numbers game quick and easy?

I play a lot of higher level D&D, usually around character levels 16-18. Really all that is needed is for every player to have a scratch pad to keep track of effects as they change. If a bard song goes up, make the change. If you don't and miss the bonus sometimes, tough patooties. Also keep a...

    All About Grappling (Part Four)

It seems that when Skip initially wrote this article he was working with the unerrata'd first article. You know, kind of like he did when they wrote 3.5 ;) Anyways, they were probably written a while ago. They corrected the first but didn't modify the wording on the second.

    [Living Greyhawk] Conversion

Conversion for my primary character is pretty simple. Fortunately the "no new core classes at conversion" rule didn't mess me up since I gained 3 levels of swashbuckler after the LGCS 4.1 came out. Yay for playing 36 hours straight before Winter Fantasy even started. ;) With some minor level...

    Bear Warrior is NERFED

Bear Warrior rocks if you are a grappler. As for type of action, it's free like rage. number of times per day, we ignore the usage limit and just have it work as many times as you rage. I think that the extra text is just an editing error.

You're a 3.5 Enchanter. What are your opposed schools?

I've found in higher level D&D combat there is one quality that I find to be most influential over who wins. Those that fly, and those that can't. I played Green Regent at Winter Fantasy in a party that had a Shadow Adept with Transmutation banned. I can't tell you how many times I would have...

Quick ASOIAF A Clash of Kings question (SPOILER)

IIRC Tyrion was told by his father that Tysha was a whore paid to sleep with him. I don't think his actions, or lack of them at that point would be considered monstrous. Remember, a 13 year old boy, against Tywin Lannister?

    Best Warrior Cleric Build?

With core only your work is cut out for you. Spells you'll want are Shield of Faith, Divine Favor, Divine Power, Freedom of Movement, Magic Vestment, if you have the Plant Domain then Barkskin is a godsend. (no pun intended) Most of the crazy stuff is in the Complete books tho. Even something...

Combat Expertise = Better Defensive Fighting

Looking through Complete Adventurer, it appears WotC may be softening thier stance on the difference between the two. There are a number of places (ie: Exotic Weapons) where taking 2 points of expertise is equivalent to fighting defensively. They still stack, but I like the idea that you can use...

Another blinking blink question -- grappling

And what if someone blinking tried to grapple a target? Also, in the initial scenario would the blinker be considered grappled until his turn? I don't think that's right. Any time the blinker is attacked it is assumed that he might be etherial so miss chance is rolled. He doesn't just blink on...

    Arcane Mastery (CA)

Arcane Mastery states that you may take 10 on your caster level checks but inserts "(as if your caster level check was a skill check)" Does this mean that you cannot take 10 if hurried or threatened, ie: in combat? If so it makes what appears to be a very strong feat almost worthless. Discuss ;)

Which is your favorite on-screen Star Trek captain?

Heh heh...just saw Teflon Billy's accurate quote. That'll learn me to read the whole thread before I post. But still... Badass.

    Complete Adventurer (merged)

Wow never noticed that Scout doesn't have Disable. That MUST be a typo. They have the Trapfinding ability and the flavor text states that they are just as good as rogues at dealing with traps. The Trapfinding ability also mentions that Scouts can use Disable Device.

Getting stains out of a battlemat

Try coffee. I was at a con and I spilled my coffee on the DM's 5 year old Map. There were red marker lines all over the place, old stains. After I wiped it up he couldn't believe his eyes. Black with 2 sugars if it makes a difference ;)

    Complete Adventurer (merged)

BTW I need to say how interesting I am finding this book, although it may be better termed a book for skill users and chronic multiclassers ; ). There are feats and PrC's here that would have fit right in with some of my more awkward multi ideas back when 3.0 first came out. Also SWEET JEEBUS...

"Mageslaying" weapon ability - this looks freaky..

Bane and Mageslayer are both +1. I also don't think MS is overpowered. The Bane line is always double edged...you spend time agonizing over what to choose then you spend time agonizing over what you didn't choose during a tough fight ;) Most people I know would still go for holy and more...

    Elektra trailer

Yup, in a big mystical ceremony where 6 or 8 ninja poured thier life forces into hers. You know there was an element of the supernatural in Daredevil too...what, you think people can really jump like that? Bullseye's feats were bordering on the unreal as well. Oh and I thought Daredevil was...
