After three years of running weekly, my Rokugan game is about ready to wrap up. The PC's are all close to 20th level, so a couple more big fights and one more adventure and it will be time to drop the curtain on the game. And for the first time in three years, a chance to play.:)

Personally I'm a big fan of the cult of Cthulhu idea. Elminster goes crazy and summons unspeakable things. Though as a Rokugan fan, I could easy adapt some elements from that. A huge comet strike opens up a pit to Jigoku. Tainted things emerge, the landscape twists in that area and...

As a matter of fact I'm going to be doing it. Playing in a Hero System game in a month or so. When my current d20 game wraps up and the chance comes along i'll be doing a Hero system game, probably supernatural based on the Laurell K Hamilton universe. Feng Shui is great fun though, as well...

Is there any? I've noticed Wall of Thorns seems alot better than the higher level reverse gravity spell. Damage, little change of most people ever escaping without spells, covers a larger area.

Hex map and painted minitatures. Makes things easier to keep straight, moves the game along more, gives the impression of what a character looks like, avoids misunderstandings. Not for every group, but I'd have a hard time playing in a group that didn't use miniatures or something similar.

The rape from Covenant is icing on the cake for not liking a book where the protogonist is a unlikable, unsympathetic, uninteresting bastard. Great world, unreadable hero. The Chung Kuo series lost me far before book eight. When he pulled the clone switcharoo when a main badguy seemed to die...

We can also guess the scene with Galdalf and the Witch King will also shoe Gandalf's staff getting destroyed, since it's around this time it disappears from the theatrical release without anyone seeming to notice.:)

My personal preference is all point buy. It lets me build exactly the character I'm trying to build, without praying for good rolls on stats. I'd rather come up with the character first and tyhen add in the stats that fit rather than creating a character based on the stats rolled.

All IMHO, but... People sometimes confuse a sub-optimal character with one that is a liability. A character that is so poorly designed it can't do anything in combat, must be constantly saved, etc, is a problem. A character who is not designed with the utmost of power gaming efficiency is not...

For good or ill, at the moment I'm leaning toward allowing the Steel Crysanthemum to be pulled back with the party. Not set in stone yet, but it's a good storyline. And whether the PC's join in, or fight against him, the game is close to it's end and this would be a suitably epic way to end...
