What do you think about Monte's new PHB Racial Levels?

Jai, the impression I got was that once you've taken one level of half-orc/half-elf, you can choose to advance in one of your two parental classes (not both), or continue advancing as a half-whatever. It wasn't clear where the cut-off was. Could you take three levels of half-elf, and 3 more...

What do you think about Monte's new PHB Racial Levels?

I think it's a great concept. It's a great way to add to the charater of any of the core races. If you want your character to identify with his people more, it's a great way to show that. It's also a great way to get around the "my fighter has too few skill points to waste on low-level...

What d20 game hasn't been done [or done right] yet?

I'd like to see a humor-based d20 game. Something along the lines of Terry Pretchett, Robert Asprin, or Piers Anthony's Xanth books. A fantasy world that doesn't take itself particularly seriously. Potable Hole Full of Beer made a good start at this, but I'd like to see a whole world designed...

    [OT] 101 Flash mob ideas

The best Flash Mob I've heard about was outside a movie theatre in New York (I think). 50+ people showed up on one side of the street, with red baloons. 50+ on the other side of the street with blue baloons. The red baloon mob starts shouting "marco!", the blue baloon mob replies "polo!"...

    (OT) I'm sombody's Dad!

Congrats, Greatwyrm! Enjoy your time with her. My daughter will be one month old tomorrow, and it's amazing how much changes in just one month. It makes you realize just how much you can love something, when you hear that little noise she'll make when you pick her up. You just melt. And, in...

seasong's Light Against the Dark III (Sep 29th)

Again, I'm impressed with how throughly thought-out Theralis is. I've always thought it made sense to plot out exaclty what kinds of creatures serve a particular god, and how they do it. Never got around to it in any campaign I was running, but it makes sense. It's the sort of thing I would...

Science question for the brainy among us

In a pseudo-medieval mindset, the easiest way to concieve of a "mass of gas" would be a breath. Maybe smoke, but having "the breath of a god" or somesuch as a requirement for your unbreakable sphere experiment is more evocative and cool than 'light a candle". Exhale, Reduce, Teleport?

Science question for the brainy among us

OK, I'll edit my previous extradimansional void hypothesis. The water, when it tries to re-grow, is blasted under unimaginable pressure back into the Elemental Plane of water, where the excess mass goes when it was shrunk in the first place. It leaves behind a vortex which leads into the...

Science question for the brainy among us

Too true, BVB. Too true. Unbreakable ice and extraplanar water-bombs are just the beginning! Much fun is to be had by contemplating impossible ways to blow stuff up!

Science question for the brainy among us

It would explode. That's what explosions are; some material rapidly expanding. In order for the "shrunken" water to expand inside the confined sphere, there would have to be sufficient energy to burst the sphere. Otherwise the water doesn't expand. Really, I can't think of any examples in...

Dragonlance Bestiary - AWESOME Jeff Easley Cover

I'm not a huge fan, but I don't dislike Easley's stuff, either. The Easley painting makes a great cover for a dragonlance monster book, though, and his style really defines the "dragonlance look" in my mind. That black dragon by Jason Engle that Kai Lord put up is un-frikkin-believable...

    Daemons vs. Yugoloths

I use them both interchangably, and I pronounce it like demon. Basically, I figure that "baatezu" is what fiends from the 9 Hells call themselves in Infernal, "tanar'ri" is what fiends from the abyss call themselves in Abyssal, and "Yugoloth" is what fiends from Gehenna call themselves. The...

[OT] My uncle cleaned the house with Pepsi Blue

So, ArthurQ, when you drink Pepsi Blue out of a Windex bottle, do you use the sprayer? If so, my hat's off to you. That's STYLE, man. Pure style... Has anyone here tried Mr. Green? That's got my vote for the most vile soda on the market. It's put out by Sobe, and it's basically...

Marshal PrC- Is WOTC lifting ideas

It's been a while since I read the Paksanarrion books, so I'm fuzzy on the details, but I do remember thinking at the time that it seemed a lot like a D&D homebrew. Not that this is a bad thing. Regardless, I bet we could get a good discussion going in the "books movies etc" forum over whether...

[EN World Book Club] Suggestions & Selectors

I'd definitely like to be part of the book club. This is a great forum for it. Gonna' pass on being a member of the editorial board, at least for now. New daughter and new job...I'm limiting the commitments I make for the next few months... BUT, I'll second the suggestion of The Scar by...

    Basement

OK, I've gotta' bite on this one. An ARTIFICIAL LIMB FACTORY ?!?! How frikkin' creepy/cool is that? Of course, I'm picturing an old warehouse, dimly lit, with mouldering plastic arms and legs hanging from the ceiling by rusty chains. Crates stacked up against the walls with the occasional...

seasong's Light Against the Dark III (Sep 29th)

Hsethmah I really love the details of your pantheon, Seasong. From his origin story, Hsethmah sounds like kind of a Trickster god, yes? A little bit Anansii, a little bit rock n' roll? I'd be surprised if he doesn't turn out to be closely involved in what's going on. Hsethmah is the...

seasong's Light Against the Dark III (Sep 29th)

Climbing mountains to seek wisdom is another time-honored tradition. I grok where you're going with this. Very cool. Very Joseph Campbell. Will we get to see updated character sheets for the newly-transformed heroes, or will we have to wait for it in-story? I'm curious as to what the...

    A Paladin's Fall From Righteousness?

What's your take on Evil in your campaign, SHARK? Is it black and white, elemental Eeeevil vs. uncorruptable Good, with nothing in-between? Are there shades of gray? Is alignment absolute? If your campaign follows the standard D&D ideal of absolute evil, then Bronwyn has strayed to the...
