    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

Copyrighting your work doesn't cost anything and is easy to do. You just need to include text like it like this inside your book: (c) Richard Green 2015, all rights reserved. Trademarking is a different matter and does cost money. To be honest, I haven't looked into it – copyright should be...

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

Could you update it to Pathfinder, maybe? Writing and publishing a book as large as Parsantium is a big task, but no reason why you couldn't start small with a short PDF product. Good luck!

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

If only I could make enough money from RPG publishing and/or freelancing to give up my day job... Even people like Wolfgang Baur, publisher of Kobold Press, who've released dozens of books, have one. I see this very much as an extension of my hobby, and any money I earn from it is a bonus that I...

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

I think that's unlikely as it's a Print On Demand title. Paizo have the print edition in stock on their website and may have taken a few copies to Paizo Con last year though.

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

Most sale promotions at OBS and Paizo are around 30% off the usual price. Typically the rate of sale doubled when I included the PDF in one of these sales. I tried to make sure people knew about the promotion through social media and the blog, and increased on-site merchandising on OBS by...

That's very flattering - thank you! Maybe in the (far) future, but we've got our hands full at the moment working on our own stuff.

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

Thanks! I'm really proud of the book – I spent a lot of time writing and revising my work so it was good as it could be, then Kate did a very thorough edit. I think the cover is very strong and the map is gorgeous so both of those helped too. In terms of marketing, I started a blog about the...

    D&D 5th Edition Starter Set

5 out of 5 rating for D&D 5th Edition Starter Set We're 10 (3 hour) sessions into Lost Mine of Phandelver and still have 2-3 sessions worth of adventure left to do. Lost Mine is an excellent introductory adventure to D&D 5e for new and old players, with plenty to keep them busy and engaged...

Do you allow electronics at your gaming table?

Hi, An interesting thing happened in last night's game. The player who often faffs around on his iPad playing Candy Crush etc now has an app on there with his character sheet. He spent the whole session paying attention to what was going on and only used his iPad to update his character :)...

What's a Freelance RPG Writer Worth?

Hi there, For those of you interested in getting started in self-publishing, I published my book, Parsantium: City at the Crossroads a year ago, after doing a number of freelance projects for Kobold Press and Raging Swan Press. I've written about my adventures in this thread. Cheers Rich

    Adventures in RPG Self-Publishing

Hi there, One year ago this week, Parsantium: City at the Crossroads was published after more than a year of writing, revising, editing, proof-reading, layout and design by me and Kate. We published the book through our own imprint, Ondine Publishing, because RPG contracts are largely work for...

Do you allow electronics at your gaming table?

I think this is true - the player I have most guilty of this would be staring at the pub TV, into space etc, if he wasn't faffing around with Candy Crush.
