Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Zurai is thinking like I am. Moving Cloudkill is necessary because it hurts your allies. Firestorm is restriction free, and it does the most damage, over the largest area. And a leader has it. And yes, a pure damage spell is considered control. That's why clerics having access to it is...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

I've been trying to figure it out, and I can't. Clerics have hands down the best control spell at this level. Evard's can potentially keep people tied down if you keep pushing them back in, but its huge area makes it unwieldy, since it affects your allies. The rest of the spells really don't...

Flaming sphere, what happens when you get pushed into it?

You can't enter a square that has an enemy conjuration in it. The push would fail, and the enemy would take no damage from it.

So, has anyone played a wizard in full plate yet?

This sort of thing won't really pay off until epic levels, when Godplate is packing a +14 base armor bonus, and you're 12 AC up from the next highest wizard. The imagery is awesome, though, and I'll be doing this with my dwarf warlock if I ever get to stop DMing [although I'm using scale and a...

"Frost Mage" - Is this a good idea ?

Wow, D&D really is like World of Warcraft... Except in 4e, mages actually do own the AOE market.

    Stealth in Combat

Let's see if I got this: My gf's rogue is already hidden from a stealth roll. Combat begins. She "stealthily" attacks, beats everyone's perception roll. Sneak attack. She is still hidden from everyone's view? She then makes a stealth check to "stealthily" attack and fails. No sneak attack. She...

    Stealth in Combat

This is confusing as heck, because in the Perception skill it states that you spend 1 minute or a Standard action to use active Perception. :/ I guess one is for checking if you don't know someone is there, and the other is for locating someone you're already aware of.

    No Random treasure !?!?...

That reminds me of the time I ordered pizza and the courier told me I could save money by turning off my air conditioning when I leave the house.

    XP for skill challenges

Maybe I just read too far into it. I don't see why a complexity 5 challenge would be worth the same amount to a party of 3 and a party of 10. The 10 party could fail it within one turn, it doesn't really make things easier to have 10 people. I dunno.

My first proper 4E game - Our reaction.

Elves are men with ear covers. Dwarves are short men with beards that drink a lot. I haven't heard anyone complain about that yet.

How to improve Dragonborn Senses Feat?

Generally people who think these types of feats suck are people who pay no attention to lighting. If lighting is irrelevant in your game, then yeah, replace low-light with something else. Today, in fact, a dragonborn paladin was unable to attack a hyena that was outside of the Light radius...

    XP for skill challenges

    why are orbs good again?

You can't "retrain for orb" at any point in the game. You can retrain powers, skills, or feats. You can start with orb, or you can never have orb.
