Challenge! I want to convert your concept!

Oh, that's what we were supposed to get? I got a katana made out of trenchcoats. :(

    I don't get what you'all are saying

So one of your previous main points is founded on what is, in essence, a house rule? Why wouldn't you be able to swap out sneak attack for "something like bardic lore, all Knowledge skills added to his class skill list, and a bonus skill point every level that he could spend on a Knowledge...

    So is it fun?

To me, this is the heart of D&D, and something that has been virtually absent from my 3.x games. 3.x got so fussy and fiddly with the existing rules that things like this almost disappeared. This situation in 3.x would have almost assuredly been resolved with grappling rules and degenerated into...

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

-1. Just replace everything in your sig with 3.5 (or flip your "likes" and "dislikes" around) and that's what you'll get in an anti-4e thread. Rolling everyone's opinion into a few lines of text is pretty groundbreaking, though. Is that like alignment?

You don't like the new edition? Tell me about it!

I'd let this stand if we were talking about a single class monk or bard, but we're not. How often were monsters defeated by social skills, anyway? If orcs ambush you, you don't have time for your one minute diplomacy check, and even then you have to get some silly number that a multiclass...

You don't like the new edition? Tell me about it!

How else am I going to find out why people don't like 4e? Only about half the posters (if that) are actually listing valid reasons for their dislike. A lot of the arguments I'm reading boil down to something along the lines of "LOL warcraft" so it doesn't help a reader like me. Consider it...

You don't like the new edition? Tell me about it!

I think everyone who spouts off about "you can't die" should actually try the game. In 2 sessions I've had 3 near deaths, that's FAR more than I saw per session in 3.x I still think it's funny how many people have to indirectly slam anyone who likes 4e. It really isn't a requirement. But, I'm...

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

Ok. I'm going to have to shoot this down bigtime. My current PC setup is 3 fighters, a paladin, and a cleric. All 3 fighters have different encounter and daily powers. There's a 2h axe fighter with brute strike, a sword (axe) and board beef shield and comeback strike, and there's actually a...

You don't like the new edition? Tell me about it!

I actually find that character interesting. It's very unlikely (and wholly epic), but PCs epitomize unlikeliness. There's only one in the entire world, and it's a PC. It's not broken, it's "nonstandard". The fact that you want to murder all dragonborn kinda shows your bias in that regard. 3.x...

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

Man this thread would make the best campaign ever. Purple worm-ranchin' bridge punchin' gnome monks with adamantine knuckle dusters.

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

Yeah, people are talking about how "overpowered" first level characters are now, but really, I haven't played a first level character since 2e (and my very first 3e game). Our group started between levels 2 and 6 for every campaign in the last 8 years.

    Hardest to Visualize Power

I don't buy this at all. Convoluted explanations with situational explanations? Reaving Strike: I swing so fast, violently, and exactly where you're standing that you pull three muscles getting out of the way. Take around 4 damage. This thread depicts some fighter powers as all martial powers...

    Skill Challenges for Dummies

Wow, I feel dumb now, having read that entire math thread, then seeing it more or less debunked by one post.

  16. Old Gumphrey

Cruel Reaper (fighter) vs. Wandering Tornado (ranger)

Then how come Fire Storm (cleric) is the most damaging area spell at level 19? vs. So moving it 3 squares as a move action balances 1/5 the initial damage and not dealing any damage on a miss? EDIT: Oh, and Firestorm doesn't hit your allies, while Cloudkill does. That is a MASSIVE advantage.

    stonegod's 3E->4E "Conversions"

How are you getting 5 damage here? I thought Cleave just did a flat 3 damage to a nearby target?

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

This. You lament that casters are "nerfed" now. Well, when you nerf a nuclear missile, it becomes a regular missile. All characters are now missiles. It's not 4 or 5 distinct levels of ballistic weapons trying to compete. I don't believe that a magic user has a right to be more powerful from a...

    Dewl barsturd swordz yo!

See, I don't really get this. It's not magical healing. HP =/= "Life". You aren't even "bloodied" until half your HP is gone. Seems to me that until 50%, you are thus "not bloodied" and therefore, not physically damaged. Second Wind heals you for less than the value to get you to being bloody...

Going to have to go ahead and agree with this 100%.
