"If this, then that." Too complicated?

Microsoft Word. Background was from.... something... I forget, and ripped with Photoshop and saved as a JPG.

"If this, then that." Too complicated?

So one of the things I noticed when building my first character was the slew of abilities that read "If X occures, you can do Y". I see that as something that, as characters grow in power, will become very hard to keep track of. Check out the attachment. My proposed solution is the "Action...

KoTS Battlemaps (Large scale for Projectors and Tiles) - Now with both floors!

Just a little bump for those who might have missed this. ;)

    piracy is a problem

The technology can't be limited, and people's behavior isn't going to change. Companies will adapt, or they will die. Modern technology has changed the landscape of commerce. You can't apply the same generalizations to software piracy as you do to shop lifting. Whether people want to admit it...

    piracy is a problem

Rock and roll is the devil! Dungeons and Dragons is the devil! Harry Potter is the devil! Piracy is the devil! etc. etc. Supposedly billions of dollors have been lost to "pirates". Yet rock stars are still rich, businesses keep writing paychecks, and the world still turns. Funny that...

    piracy is a problem

I guess we are the only ones who remember all the promises made when 3e came out. I'm pretty sure WOTC didn't deliver on... any of them? Oh wait! There was eTools. ;)

    piracy is a problem

I believe it's more accurate to say I am judging them on their past efforts and broken promises. Also, an "online rules compendium" isn't what I want. I want a PDF. I'd pay for a reasonably priced PDF. I don't know if I'd pay for a "online rules compendium", but we'll see.

KoTS Battlemaps (Large scale for Projectors and Tiles) - Now with both floors!

Not yet, but soon. In fact, here's the entirety of the first level. It's in 1/2" scale, so it should make for a wonderful projected map, or even tiles for those who want to waste the ink. I've got it in full 1", but the file is pretty big. That said, enjoy! Use as you please.

    piracy is a problem

*shrug* I got the PDF. I also have the core set pre-ordered. And if WOTC made at least a tiny effort to be competitive in the PDF market, I'd have bought their PDF instead. But they haven't, so I didn't.

The Half-elf Con bonus: A possible explanation.

Exactly. The combination of the two races yields a result that is "better" than either of it's parent races. I personally think it's kinda cool. It makes the half elves stand apart a bit.

KoTS Battlemaps (Large scale for Projectors and Tiles) - Now with both floors!

As always, if this is seen as too much by WOTC guys, feel free to delete. That said, I've been using Photoshop to re-draw the Keep maps at 1" scale for use with projectors and people who hate ink. Sample below: Thoughts? Criticisms? EDIT - See below for link to entire first floor. EDIT -...

1 DM, 1 Player. Full party?

I had a thought on the drive home from work. I remembered the Temple of Elemental Evil PC game, and even some of the older games. In those, the player could create his entire party, running the whole group through the adventure. So why not do that with the pen and paper game? Sure, the computer...

    BattleMaps and D&D Insider

That was my original plan, but I couldn't get a good scan of the Keep. It's a LOT of work, but I think my approach is going to be worth it. And it's moving along faster as I get more done. I get more and more shapes to work with that I can just copy and paste. Unfinished Area 2 attached.

Hard to say. I just started this so I'm learning as I go. So far I'm about half way through with the top portion of the Keep. That's taken about four hours or so. That said, I'm going to use the provided printed maps where I can. I'm only going to do the Keep because they didn't provide...

I've been working on my own re-mapping this last week. I don't do tiles. I have a projector setup that I'll be using this for. What do you think? This is an unfinished bit of Area 5.
