    What are you listening too?

Been listening to a lot of Myrath lately- prog/Oriental metal.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Oh wow, I had no idea. That's... disappointing, to put it very mildly.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Again- Gygax didn't say he was a sexist just once. He maintained his position until at least shortly before he died. He talked about it publicly, even on this very website. I'm not sure what your standard of proof is, but if you have looked at the man's own words and still can't see this, I...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I've heard it as meaning "out of line". A quick Googling shows that it includes all three of those meanings, as well as losing money. Huh, TIL.

    Bad Faith and Sealioning

I thought gish-galloping was dropping so many BS arguments so fast that the other person doesn't have the time or ability to refute them all? Maybe I have that one wrong, though.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Have you read the other stuff he said on the subject? Look, I have a massive case of Gygaxian hero worship too, but even I can acknowledge the man's faults. I have, in my time, caught myself being sexist and racist and transphobic and homophobic and all the rest. The difference is, when I have...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Look at his own words. See the quote in post 495 of this thread:

I'd argue that the closer you are to someone, the harder it is to see them objectively.

D&D General The D&D Multiverse: Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die

To be fair, what I actually said that they (Elemental Wood and Metal) were first implied in OA, and Wood was fleshed out in the 3e MotP- which, sure, said "This isn't part of the Great Wheel", but that doesn't change the fact that earlier material implied its existence to be canon.

D&D General The D&D Multiverse: Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die

There is no law that says any of this. It just speaks to a rigid interpretation of the canon material. At the very least, the Far Realm is an official addition to the Great Wheel. Moreover, both the Feywild and the Shadowfell are official additions to the Great Wheel. For that matter, the...

D&D General The D&D Multiverse: Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die

I disagree. The notion that you can't have other planes in the Great Wheel is- well, it doesn't hold true in my experience. Just because there are so many planes of a certain type that we know of doesn't mean there aren't others, or haven't been others. The para-elemental planes are set up...

    D&D 5E (2024) Group Checks?

Send the rogue (and maybe druid, and maybe bard, and maybe wizard... etc) ahead to scout or accept that the odds of being stealthy are low. Heck, I've seen an entire party switch to studded leather to enable a stealth mission. It's not that it can't happen. It's that some players will...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Tamer: A Monster Tamer Class - Balancing Questions

There's not enough detail here to really tell, honestly. I do think you need to be careful not to overshadow other pet subclasses such as the beastmaster and drakewarden. A CR 10 creature is pretty powerful, and I don't think that a beastmaster's pet (f'rex) is even close to that, even at...

D&D General People make amazing D&D Art

As an aside, I am very pleased to be able to bust out my conversions of tons of old-edition oozes for this adventure. I've already used olive slime and slime creatures, mustard jellies, and spawn of Juiblex, and there are several others to come, including an arcane ooze and a few homebrews. I...

D&D General People make amazing D&D Art

My most recent gaming pic- which I got to deploy at the very end of last night's game- is of a vomitous priest, basically a homebrewed priest of Juiblex, the Faceless Lord. This guy is a member of a cult of Juiblex that has taken over a badly damaged, partially collapsed sewer system below the...

D&D 5E (2024) Should full casters and Monks have one weapon mastery?

I think this is a terrible idea, because casters definitely don't need a boost. Having the ability to alter reality with a gesture and a few magic words should require the kind of focus that means you just can't do what a fighter type can do. But this thread reads very much like a search for...

D&D General Vanity Frankenstein 5E: My homebrew D&D project [+]

I have to say, this has a lot in common with my own "DnD Jazz" system. I like it- or at least what I have read so far. I am also doing a ten level limit (inspired by E6), but my system is farther from 5e. I'm replacing a lot of character options with feats- including classes outside of the...

D&D General Why Were the Dragon and Dungeon Magazines Discontinued?

A big part of the reason the 4e era digital versions flopped was that they weren't treated as a priority. The content was thin, they were late, they just didn't get the kind of love that they got when they were being run by the guys outside the company in 3e. Yes, sales and all that, but the...
