I do like how the system really plumbed the depths of 3rd Edition for class inspiration. There are a lot of obscure mechanics that I haven't seen in a good long while (truename magic, spirit shamanism, etc).

Yeah, both Force Grip and Dark Presence should have ended when he was stunned. He also probably lost line of sight when he dropped prone as well, which would have ended Dark Presence.

I think the question is more along the lines of whether an ability that has the same name across different sources stack. For instance, I could pick up Gearhead from two or three different sources. I believe the answer, however, is no, per the bottom of p. 41.
