Birthright: Is 4th Ed. the best D&D for it?

Bloodline Powers being able to be taken in place of combat powers sounds like it'd work great for those that effect combat. For those that don't, base 'em off rituals for level. You could even use the gp cost for mastering rituals for the cost of the "ritual" to awaken the power in your blood...

    Half-Elf vagueness -Dilettante Abuse?

Does the half-elf feature let you take any power that can be used at-will, or any At-Will Power(which is a category of powers, along with Encounter, Daily and Utility)?

    Clarification Question on Basic Attacks

A basic attack, is, essentially, a special power that lets you make one attack with no real special. As such, you can't combine it with other powers that need a standard action, but you can combine it freely with feats and class features. Make Sense? Here's the powers for them from the...

Question: Rogues, Ally-cover, and Sneak-Attacking every round

Under Total Concealment(PHB 281), first sentence "You cannot see the target." >> I'd take the other sentence to be examples of what you can do to not be able to not see the target. That sentence is rather declareative, and isn't altered by the next sentence at all that I can see. Under Combat...

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

There's a paragon level fighter power, Exorcism of Steel. Does damage and opponent drops their weapon. If you want to allow people to disarm, make a Str vs. Reflex attack as standard action. I'd probably even give them the weapon prof bonus. If it's used against an elite, give the elite a +5...

    Paladin powers that "Mark"

The paladin has specific requirements for keeping his Divine Challenge active on it's target. If those other powers that allow a paladin to mark have requirements on what you must do for them, then those requirements would be listed in those specific powers. There is no such restriction in a...

    Concerning buying D&D 4th Edition

For me, I don't mind paying a bit more for the ability to browse through new stuff and/or old stuff and see if it's something I want to buy. I have a hard time dealing with the sheer /volume/ of what's available on the internet. Information overload, I guess.

    Sleep. Sleep! SLEEP!

I had exactly the same thought, and question. I guess It'd be a question of whether or not they really want to take that save *now* and maybe never get a turn, or take the slowed movement.

    KOTS Healing Potions

This is the lowest level healing potion, i'm sure there'll be higher level versions that heal more hps. Also, even a 3rd level defender gets a use from them, it's another way to heal in combat w/o a leader using a power, and it's only a minor action to use, rather than a standard. You can also...

    Familiars?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that was the current plan for familiars, to make them a 4th implement type. But I don't even recall where I read that. :-)

Minions. The DM knows 'em. Do the players?

At least in 3.5, our group tends to be quite religious on using knowledge skills to ID new monsters. I'd probably just use the same thing. the basic result(15 from the quickstart rules) gives you the name and type of the monster. I don't have a problem telling them that their minions as part...

    Marking and AoE

It doesn't seem to bad, just a long term debuff(there just don't seem to be many of those). The run away part is only turn, so you don't need the save there(and that's the part that's a real killer).

That's an awesome idea. I may have to put that forward as an option.

    Shape magic exploit?

It might be, except for one thing: it's not a spell. A Spell has been defined as an Arcane Power. Shape Magic, however, doesn't have the Arcane tag(or any other keywords for that matter).

KotS and other modules to integrate Dungeon Tiles?

Yeah, I have been as well. It seems like a great opportunity to integrate their marketing and sales, to design their published modules so that the dungeon tiles can be used easily.

How many players is Keep on the Shadowfell designed for?

Because each encounter is given a budget of exp, you can still use solos. But, instead of removing something, you'll probably end up lowering the level so it fits within the budget for the number of characters you have.

    Excerpts: Angels

Interestingly, with paladins crowd control being to deal some radiant damage to someone who doesn't attack them, Angels can pretty much run amok, unless the damage goes up significantly. With resist 10 or 15 radiant, they won't even feel it.

    Ritual information

My personal speculation would be simple Trained: Arcana or Trained: Religion Since Arcana already teaches some rudimentary magic(in the form of detect magic), that makes sense to me.
