D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

The PHB is still around though. This subclass can't tell any of the stories and backgrounds of the sorcerer. No "grandma was a dragon", no "I'm just magic", no "please how can I stop this and be normal". And I don't see how you shifting the themes from the known subclasses onto other clases...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

    That's not a sorcerer. That's a wizard wielding sorcerer's toys.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

My biggest objection is that Sorcerer is the original Charisma caster. It would take something away from the concept. Better to move all of the others away from Cha casting.

Spoilers Bad Batch: Final Season *SPOILERS*

Midway through the first episode of the batch. I find it interesting that the clones (edit: and non-humans) manage to be more humane than the "actual humans."

D&D General I think the choice of Species / Race / Ancestry has more to do with Story than Rules...

My preference will aleays be ore crunchy races. Mechanical possitive support and negative support. Some race/class combos should be harder to pull off. Having said that, given the current trends, I'd rather have race/whatever as purely cosmetic and lore based. Just like with backgrounds, you...

D&D General Which D&D-related You Tube channels do you find worth watching? (+)

I've silenced that channel. I won't lie, it felt cozy during the OGL fiasco, but it is just too much drama for drama's sake.

    Just saw Delicious in Dungeon

Aww, what a sudden unhappy ending. Well, let's wait a few months for more episodes to drop.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Again, they were going to take metamagic away from Wizards (and everybody else) anyway. They had removed it half-way through the playtest with little fanfaire. And at that point it was a lame "once per day metamagic". (And now that I think of it, the feat from Tasha's that anybody can take is...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

That kit just changes "I went to magical college" with "I learned at home with spooky youtube and magic suggar daddy still sends care packages from time to time" The witch kit still lugs a spellbook and needs it. And all witches are still geniuses( going for the higher int requirement).

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I wish warlocks could risk loing access to their power if they wrong their patron. But that won't happen with paladins not being able to fall, or clerics being able to be cut down from their deity.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

The designers have definitely muddied the waters. Instead of leaning onto the sorcerer being all innate and the warlock being all external, they went with "your sorcerer can be also 'created' by an external force", and "your patron changes you." For a hombrew basic I'm picking warlock and...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

@Minigiant I think it would be more productive to split the sorcerer rather than merge it into other class. I can see some dicothomies that muddy the design. The desire for metamagic versus the desire for a dead simple beginner friendly caster. Monster magic versus personal magic. Flashy...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Well, if what you think is that sorcerer needs better mecanics, maybe that is what you should argue for instead of calling for its removal or merger into other class (which is a removal, each class has its own fiction, lose the class, lose the fiction)

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

After their first time in the playtest, the next we learned of them was in a Legends and Lore post after the Mage was shot down by the community. And the next time we saw the actual sorcerer was when the draft PHB leaked, but at that point there was nothing left to do or say that could alter the...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Sorcerers didn't steal metamagic, it was salvaged to give sorcerers something unique to do. It was evident the designers were struggling to nail down the mechanics through megafeats, as they stealthly took them away and nobody noticed. (This around the time they gave neovancian to wizards) Even...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

History repeats. All I know is that moving subclass choice from first to third level is like three steps backwards, likely to make things worse not better.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I'm one of those who have argued for putting wizard under sorcerer, but I must admit I did it in more of a bad faith and as a way to demonstrate some of my points rather than because I don't want wizards to exist as a separate class (I do prefer the split, if anything I might argue in favor of...
