I can understand 'no playing online' and 'no modifying' rule (and 'no printing out' at a stretch) , but what about the kids who can't legally sign up for the playtest?

Indeed. I'd like a return to the atmospheric pics from AD&D. Black and white, and showing a street of a busy city or a marketplace or its buildings... and the people, of course.

You know, you are right, and those facts many of us here missed in this discussion. So it is even more silly for D&D to shy away from such elements completely.

I am with those who want AD&D language. Preferably fitted with statblocks somewhere between 3e and 4e. However, Minigiant's example is brilliant, and so is another mockup on an earlier page of this thread.
