Maps Feature on D&D Beyond Becomes Free to Use

Wow! I was skeptical about the idea of embracing a franchise model or whatever, but… this is a very positive start to the new direction!

D&D General D&D Releases New Japanese Campaign 'Oni’s Right Hand'

The semicolon is a very strange punctuation mark; the only time it’s “correct” to use is when you don’t need it. It’s functionally just a more pretentious period.

D&D General D&D Releases New Japanese Campaign 'Oni’s Right Hand'

Apparently I was mistaken, the explicit sidebar about it that appeared in the species UA isn’t in the PHB. I still think it’s a bit silly to assume that because there are no half-orc stats, mixed human and orc heritage can’t be a thing.

D&D General D&D Releases New Japanese Campaign 'Oni’s Right Hand'

My mistake there, then. I would guess either page count, the complaints that having to pick one species to gain the mechanical traits of also being problematic, or both scared them off of including that sidebar. I would still say that the PHB lacking stats for half-orcs is not reason to assume...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

When have I ever told anyone not to eat meat? I eat meat. “The meat processing industry needs to make major changes” and “no one should eat meat ever” are wildly different sentiments. Ok. Forgive me for short handing “tens of millions of people will die and modern civilization will probably be...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

People have disagreed with me. That’s not the same thing as “pointing out why I’m wrong.” Again, discussion is the point of forums. What? When did I ever imply people have died from lack of access to RPG books?? There is certainly a lot wrong in the world right now. That’s not the same thing...

D&D General D&D Releases New Japanese Campaign 'Oni’s Right Hand'

Half-orcs don’t have abilities distinct from humans and orcs. But that doesn’t mean a character can’t have half human and half orc parentage. On the contrary, that’s explicitly allowed, and indeed characters can explicitly have any mixed heritage the player wants, not just half-human-half-orc or...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

If people argue with me on an online discussion forum, I’m going to respond. That is literally the purpose of a forum. No, the difference is that good actually exists. Supporting the meat processing industry is no longer strictly a matter of personal conscience. It’s a matter of our species...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Im not badgering anyone. I expressed my opinion, and I’ve responded to people who have tried to argue with me about it. A majority isn’t necessary. Just a large enough portion of the consumer base to make an impact on profits, provided they are vocal about their demands. If you just choose not...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

One person choosing not to support a company doesn’t matter. Collective power requires a collective to wield it. If something is worth boycotting, it’s worth telling other people about, to hopefully get more people to join the boycott. At the very least, you need to make enough noise for the...

D&D General 70% Of Games End At Lvl 7?

I don’t have any actual data, but my personal experience was that the longest* D&D campaign I’ve ever participated in was a 4e game. We played from 1st level to 11th, and the only reason we stopped was because half the players moved away, and VTTs and video call services were both still in their...

D&D 5E (2014) Character Creation- How to Apply Auction Techniques

This is a really fun idea! I’d love to play in a game like this. I also wonder about playing it a bit more like fantasy sports, where you’re bidding on players characters to build a pool from which to bring on different adventures in an open-table style game, rather than bidding on stats from...

And didn’t he end up not really liking playing a Warlock that much and multiclassing to Paladin?

Critical Role's The Mighty Nein Reveals First Look, Season 1 to Air on November 19th

Both series are comedies… Or, at least, feature a lot of comedy, along with action and drama. I mean, they’re adaptations of live-performed D&D campaigns. Of course they’re going to feature a lot of comedy, much of it pretty juvenile. Comes with the territory.

Critical Role's The Mighty Nein Reveals First Look, Season 1 to Air on November 19th

I’m more excited for this than I was for the Vox Machina series. I don’t have the time to keep up with Critical Role, but I always enjoy the characters, and the Mighty Nein campaign had some of my favorites, as well as a lot of major emotional beats that will be very cool to see animated.

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Oh, so digital-only at first and a PoD option made available later down the line? That’s really smart, I like that.
