Current state of the online Character Builder

    This is my concern :(

    Maybe I'm playing it wrong...

15 rounds seems excessively long. Like any version of D&D you have to adjust for your players. 4e puts emphasis on teamwork, something that was an issue when I first introduced my old group of 3.5 players to 4th. They were used of being able to all split up and fight their own private battles...

    Changing Game Systems

I would also recommend Savage Worlds as a nice change of pace from 4e (which I do like) and as a bonus its inexpensive, rules-light and very flexible.

The Value of my DDI Subscription

I might as well chime in on this thread as it most of the statements echo my own feelings on the matter. Oddly enough, like the OP, my 2nd Annual subscription runs out about the same time as his. Up until the last few months I felt DDI was a good deal for my money. Now?? Not a chance. The...

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Dannyalcatraz Heroes of the Fallen Lands: Slayer (Fighter Striker) Knight (Fighter Defender) Thief (Rogue) Mage (Wizard w/ 3 variants; Schools of Magic) Warpriest (Melee Clerics with 3 Domains [1 is in Dragon]) Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms: Sentinel (Druid Leader w/ Animal Companion)...

Hungry Game, New Customers, Inexperienced Chef

I had a similar problem when introducing 3 new-to-roleplaying women who comprise my current group. In retrospect I would have introduced combat in stages... This could be portrayed in-game as vignettes of the characters as younger version of themselves, just starting out in their respective...

Let's say D&D ceases to exist...what do you play?

I am one of those who has pretty much only played D&D since my "experimental" days when I was younger. So if D&D was gone, I'd either play MMORPG's or Savage Worlds. EDIT: I am also noticing a LOT of people responding to this thread mention Savage Worlds.... hopefully Pinnacle doesn't get any...

How many EN Worlders are within 100 miles of you?

3... and not bad, considering only 1 of the people I play even has an ENWorld account (and he isn't on GSG).

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

A few more addenda: I was able to create and save a character using the L4E pbp point-buy (3 extra points). It doesn't like it (didn't check off the Abilities tab when done) but allowed me to save. Second I was able to create a Warpriest MC Druid. It prompted me to choose a Druid At-Will and...

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

Turning off Windows Firewall seems to have fixed the issues for me so far AND its running a LOT quicker.

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

Crashed when I chose a Daily. Edit: Didn't lose character on reload, CB asked me if I wanted to Restore character or Discard. I chose restore and everything was there. And Daily selection worked this time. Edit 2: Choosing Battle Armaments Feat seems to have killed this character... on my...

Swimming Question from a Newb DM

Yeah. +2 was a good call. Personally I like the +/-2 rule. If something your player does warrants a benefit/penalty, give them one and move on; no muss, no fuss.

Forgotten Realms "Gray Box": the path to redemption?

First off, welcome to ENWorld! Secondly, although I myself have only dabbled in FR of any edition, from what I have read from others is that the Gray Box, may have that redeeming effect for you. It was before the novels (which are the greatest influences on the game for the last decade or so)...

RITUALS will be officially modified :)

Wow... I mean... wow. Talk about caving in to your customers demands. Wizards is SOOOO whipped. ;) Seriously, quite a bit of options (revision?) addressing the issues of the vocal minority. (Let me clarify that I don't intend that term to be derogatory; lets face it, feedback givers ARE a...

[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

Yeah, after reading the FAQ on Character Creation, I just saw that. The only problem would be that Ferris is a Nature-type with Druid MC'ing and ATM it would be quite a flavour leap to go to Runepriest or Warpriest. I am tempted to try something to maintain the connection with the rest of the...

    Character Builder Video!

Hate to say it (not happy with some of the decisions re the new CB) but it looks nice and smooth. Can't wait to try it out and see if I will keep my annual subscription. (Thinking of not renewing because of said changes)

[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

Ferris watches from the dock as the others sail off to wherever. He has come to realize that Kythira is his home, and he belongs here. Dire stirrings are happening, and the people of Kythira will need his help. I am also retiring my character. After looking at the options from my level up...

[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

My pleasure, Iron Sky. I LOVE Sir Existen and would adventure with him any time. Thanks pacdidj for the great run. See you all in the Tavern!

Preview of "Dungeons & Dragons" #1, on sale today!

I, for one, also like the banter. D&D comics fail for me by being too serious. Reminds me of the banter and one-liners from my D&D groups of yore. Kudos to all involved in this comic.

    Forgotten Kingdoms Lands Art

I was thinking the same thing. AND it looks like its all recycled. And I guess they are reprinting the cover/CA/line of sight etc diagrams from HotFL (if I remember correctly that is). Wow. I try and remain optimistic about WotC, but I am sure seeing some signs of things not going well there.
