D&D General Would You Play This Theme?

So long as we are talking about the party having strong ties and reasons they wouldn't be bask-stabbing each other, I would be down.

D&D 5E (2014) does it seem lke tcoe Order of scribes wizard is largely solutions in search of a problem dressed up as an archetype?

This made my power hungry Wizard thirsty. He rightly sees how gold/time costs on spell book maintenance is one check on his power and wealth. In this world, the economy is on the silver standard, so gold amounts are roughly halved. There are gold coins, but not in the amounts the default loot...

Lovecraft Country: Final Thoughts and Discussion (spoilers)

I would watch it, but I just don't want to pay for so many streaming services. Paying for so many channels was what caused me to fall away from any semblance of cable TV. Now it is happening with streaming as well. I already pay for 3 services, and frankly that is enough. If I can come by a...

Patterns in gender of AIs that "must be destroyed"

I actually find that I take advice from a female voice more often. My male brain takes it as criticism or a challenge of my own authority/knowledge/ability when coming from another dude voice. Maybe that is the same as saying female voices sound more passive? I just tend to take what they say...

The Dune RPG Has A Cover!

Honestly, I am not sure I am at all familiar with the 2d20 system. To be frank, it makes me feel the way Sylvester Stallone's character in Demolition Man felt about the three shells in the bathroom.

The Dune RPG Has A Cover!

You are not alone. While there are some cool elements and design choices in the 1984 film I like the 2000's vision better as a whole.

D&D 5E (2014) Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

All of those to the degree that you are taking damage would have visual cues. From gasping one's head to an NPC or creature acting weird or engaging with objects or enemies that are not there. Unless you prefer they just stand there and do nothing... that's your choice but it sounds profoundly...

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

In my opinion, the second part of your question should always be remembered. If there isn't a significant chance it could fail, no check should be called for. You did it. You're intimidating to this farmer. So more of an argument that Intimidate shouldn't be the sole property of Charisma...

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

So if someone can feather a target from 150ft away with a bow, or can chop an orc in half with one swing, does this in front of you, and says you are next. But doesn't say it with sufficient conviction because they rolled a 10 on their intimidate, it would give you no pause? Dumb. Actions...

Planescape Planescape to languish in purgatory?

I'd be down for a revisit of Darksun. Spelljammer I could also get behind just because it is cool. And while I cut my teeth in Greyhawk, I can't think of much that sticks out enough to really grab attention with as much as the other two I stated above.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

More familiar with Discord, and I can see the ability to easily post images and media as a handy feature in something like that.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

No I saw the original. Still stands... weird... Let's hope it never comes to that. I also think that would be a hard thing to really prove and wouldn't really help the nation to heal.

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

You mistake me. I don't think it should be based on ANY one stat. I think that whatever makes the character scary, whether that be their mastery of the arcane, their dexterity with a blade, or the tone of their voice. Strength was just my example, as typically for most classes that value a high...

    Solo or Two person games

Mage Knight is a lot of fun! Though the last time I played, there was both a lot of learning involved for first-timers, and we had 3 of us. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't function just as fine with two, or I guess solo. Once you start gaining power in that game, man... it takes off...

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

I'll have to review. It has been so long since I cracked open that part of the book. I have been doing it since always so I never bothered to look. That doesn't really explain vets though. Either way, thanks.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

They definitely have to deal with the Ebola, so I am sure that helps a little with taking things seriously and having systems in place, or at least that mindset. They also have a pretty young population.

You have no idea if this is the case. But okay. Declare you know all of us as much as you like.

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

Oh I am aware of that, just many DMs new and veteran still have a strict adherence to RAW and don't like to deviate. A more 'official' call out to a fluid interpretation of intimidate could be made to enforce this.

D&D 5E (2014) Getting rid of bad skill proficiencies

I am so sick of Intimidation being only charisma. That bulky dude with the massive club isn't scary because he can give a speech, he's scary because he can knock my brains out and eat a sandwich over my corpse like it was another Tuesday.
