I don't completely agree with this line of reasoning applied to the cowardice of low levels. True, starting characters in most systems are fragile. But in D&D challenge ratings continue to rise with PC level; in a "balanced" game (where "balance" means that challenge level somehow correlates...

To make the point without any sarcasm or irony--I've found that if you want your players to jump right into the plot as a group, starting them out as strangers won't help.

No, no, they were just role-playing. After all, each of them is a 1st level mook with no allies (yet), right? Being annoyed at the noise, or hiding under the blankets, is perfect for people who don't yet realize the heroic potential within. Having the PCs framed for whatever misdeeds took place...

That's true, and I apologize to you Iuz. Temporary insanity as the lockout was announced. I still think it's a big deal, though, especially with the anti-player sentiments running rampant...well...just about everywhere. There's no reason for erroneous thread titles that contribute to them.

(I imagine this is going to be tough to understand, but...) "I couldn't stand to watch it" and plain old "unwatchable" are completely different things. See, you have to open the DVD player first, and then insert the disc. Only then are they watchable.
