The helmet reminds me of the dude in 283.

I'm glad it's helped you--it's helped me too. :) And, yes, those same tallies.

Wasn't Roy supposed to find them? I suppose that might too simple a storyline for Rich. Edit: I thought I recognized the boots as being the same. Same design, but different color.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

Most companies don't initially post open positions on publically available pages. Once they decide to hire, if they don't already have a person in mind, they'll first post the position internally. Of course, I don't know how WotC works, specifically, but that's how large companies generally work.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

While this is a good point and general true, it's probably less true in a monopolistic market.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

If you participate in self-destructive actions for multiple years, fatality isn't a surprising result. If you sabotage your career for multiple years, you may very likely end your career in that industry ("You've had how many jobs in the past 10 years?"). In a company, "harmful to oneself" like...

Is it Roy? I don't remember where he is.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

It's a good, important question. There are sometimes mentions in WotC articles about new hires, but I don't think any one knows if those are exhaustive, or if they focus on more visible positions. Everyone seems content to assume the number of D&D employees is shrinking, though.

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

You're using some imprecise terms that are a little confusing. WotC may want all of their properties to out perform their previous mark, but that's not how companies are run. Companies are run to make a profit. If one quarter their profit is $1M, and the next their profit is $2, they don't need...

Oh, I thought you only had old data from the Maptools/Skype games. I didn't realize you're still keeping track it all. That's likely really good information either way, though I don't have time to go through the information more than the end-of-encounter summaries (tally dailies used, crits...

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

I haven't seen it, but maybe I missed it too. Being largely unfamiliar with the other brands, I don't know how many "big names" there are in them either--so any lay offs may get less attention. D&D, I think, is somewhat unique among the WotC brands in that there's much more text to write (and...

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

I totally believe Hasbro has long term expectations for WotC, and that they're trying to grow the brand. Every well-functioning company should have similar aspirations. Every company has both short term and long term investments, and I'm sure there is a similar situation at WotC. Still, you...

It can also be a way to get rid of high-salary employees, people at the top of their pay grades.

Goonalan--Maptools/Skype data only of minor interest to me personally. I also want to know how long the encounters are (in minutes), and I figure that a Skype/MapTools game would skew the numbers. The resources/encounter I'd probably find interesting, though. But, that doesn't mean someone on...

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

Sorry, "self-destructive." I'm not sure what the difference is, but the argument applies nonetheless if you replace "suicidal" with "self-destructive." The likely case is prosperity, not survival, because since breaking even--exactly--for several years is pretty unlikely (and we've already...

    Unconfirmed: More Layoffs at WotC

The argument is: The strategy has stood the test of time. They've used it for many years (even during a major recession), and it it apparently working for them because they have survived. If it wasn't working for them, they would have changed their strategy (this is part of the concept of...

My last two DDE games: 1. 100 minutes, 170 xp each, 2 crits, 3 dailies, 4 APs, 15 rounds v 9 monsters. (It was the end of a chapter, so they pulled out the big guns and pretty much flew through a tough encounter) 2. 70 minutes, 125 xp each, 3 crits, 1 daily, 3 APs, 1 Surge, 6 rounds v 4...
