    D&D 4E Palladium's philosophy for D&D 4e? Pros and cons

Were they really any better than 1e/2e proficiencies? What about versions of D&D without proficiencies?

    D&D 4E Palladium's philosophy for D&D 4e? Pros and cons

So basically the Palladium line is that the game works best with an off-the-cuff blend of rules-based powergaming and freeform improvisation? I'd buy that--I bet that's true of lots of games, at least games that emphasize butt-kicking the way D&D and Palladium do--but that's demanding an awful...

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

MAN, I love that little halfling. Chaotic evil FTW!

    Big or Small?

See, I was pretty sure this whole thread was mostly concerned with a different sort of size, and mostly intended for those few EN-worlders who weren't heterosexual men.

    Humor - OotS #443

What a great strip. I'm happy whether or not Roy gets ressurrected--if he gets raised, he'll be more interesting for having been so completely humbled; if he doesn't, it'll be even more interesting to see how the rest of the party gets by without him.

D&D 4E What Star Wars Saga E. features would you like to see incorporated in 4E D&D and why?

The other side of this could be that the power curve for spellcasters would get flatter, too. There are good reasons to like flatter power curves, in general: characters can develop organically, over time, and their abilities can improve in ways that make fewer of their older abilities obsolete...

D&D 4E What Star Wars Saga E. features would you like to see incorporated in 4E D&D and why?

All of them. I'm really impressed. As far as I'm concerned, AD&D : 3e :: 3e: Saga Edition. From what I've seen so far, it's that good.

    D&D 3.x Swiftblade Remix

Now it's insanely powerful! Consider the benefits (I'm listing the ones that apply when haste is in effect--which, thanks to "sudden casting" and "fortified hustle", should be pretty much all the time):Full BAB, six levels of spellcasting. Haste as a free action every round. So the whole party's...

    Which weapon is better?

If you're a fighter, you probably have a good attack bonus for your level. The second weapon will probably do more damage overall. Do you have any other damage bonuses? That can make a big different, because it can make base weapon damage less important.

    Homebrew Smite Feats

Yes and no. A single smite only modifies a single attack, but there's nothing in the rules to prevent a paladin from modifying multiple attacks in a given round with multiple smites. (In order to do this, you'd have to add a rule like "a paladin may only smite evil once per round" or something...

    Weapon Aptitude for Fighters?

Did you use those examples just so you could use that particular plural of "ninja"?

    Homebrew Smite Feats

Re: elemental smite, conservative smite. These look great. Re: smite specialty. A little too "meta" for my tastes but it doesn't look obviously broken. Re: multiple smite. Is there any rule that prohibits this already? I don't think there is. I think the problem is just that smites with...

    New Feat: Wishsong (Broken?)

I don't know if it models the novels well. Of course you know it's straightforwardly overpowered for characters created significantly above 1st level. However, I think it'd be a really cool feat, actually, for campagins played all the way from 1st level to 14th and beyond: for most of your...

    Hitpoints, Danger, and Fatal Hits

The SWRPG switch to hit points has prompted me to think a little bit about the motivations for the three damage systems WotC has suggested so far--the VP/wounds system (Wheel of Time, Star Wars), the hitpoint system (D&D), and the hitpoint system with a massive damage save (d20 Modern). Suppose...

    Oots 427

I'd say warrior, rather than fighter. They're standard soldiers, just experienced and capable ones. That's enough for Power Attack, Cleave, and either Weapon Focus or Great Cleave, though, which should help them hew through the hobgoblins pretty easily, until the archers come.

    DEX Bonus to damage feat

A balanced version--which also nicely models the classic single-rapier swashbuckler and offers a neat parallel to two-handed weapons--limits the benefit to single-weapon styles, like so:

How much BAB is a feat worth?

This is an interesting, plausible, and clever principle, though I, personally, think a point of BAB is worth slightly less than that. Here is an interesting question--assuming the (post-PHII) fighter is balanced, would a prestige class be balanced if it was just like the fighter except that it...
