Complete Adventurer & Races of Destiny Prestige Classes (from Sharn)

I thought they already did revise it like that, and just called in the "dervish" instead.

Are LA races ever worth it?

Almost never for spellcasters, but occasionally for others. Lizardfolk are a pretty strong defensive race and centaurs have terrific stats. The more powerful lycanthropes can also be excellent bargains, arguably to the point of brokenness. In general, though, I agree with the earlier posters.

Need help with campaign-specific PrC [LEW - Dervish of Sairundan v3ac]

I'd say it looks roughly balanced, but the vast majority of the class's power comes from Wind's Fury and Storm's Fury, the latter of which is huge. I worry that most of the class's most interesting and unusual benefits -- the songs, identification, and (nerfed) dervish dance -- won't come into...

    Revised fighter feats

I think you're right; the characters who have the biggest incentive to take Weapon Focus (as it stands now) twice are those who want to use two different weapons at once, or those who want to use two very different weapons for different purposes (e.g. a melee weapon and a ranged weapon, or two...

    Revised fighter feats

I'm considering revising the sorts of feats that fighters gain access to as fighter-specific feats, making the following changes:Weapon Specialization applies to all weapons with which the character has taken Weapon Focus.Improved Critical's prerequisites are changed to "Fighter level 8th+...

Brilliant 5-ft. step change! Genius initiative change! Everyone should read!

Hmm. I actually use Wickett's five-foot step rule, but also allow you to take a five-foot step as part of a full-attack action with a melee weapon (only). The melee guy works the same way as before, the archer can't get his melee attack, and the casters can still cast on the defensive, and so...

    Book of Perfect Balance

I've long dreamed of a neutrality-themed book entitled The Book of Pragmatic Apathy.

    Just got my SAT scores!

Congrats to Mr. Mayhem! (And good luck with your college process! Do you know where you're thinking of applying?) It's rather a technicality, but I think the concensus opinion is that one's SAT score is only very loosely related to one's overall intelligence (presuming that there even is such a...

New Feat (and possible Tumble variant)

Why? Is it that broken? You may be right, but your criticism would be more helpful if you'd give reasons. Tempest Attack is already a high-level feat, but I don't see how it has to be an epic one. (I'm generally disinclined to pay much attention to epic feats, since I generally don't like the...

New Feat (and possible Tumble variant)

Here's another combat feat, designed as a culminating feat for an agile combatant who relies heavily on movment, based on the CW Dervish class: Tempest Attack [General, Fighter] You can perform an amazing sequence of attacks on the move. Prerequisites: Dex 15+, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack...

How would you balance the Bard & the Cleric?

My favorite cleric fix is very simple: just remove divine favor, divine power, and righteous might from the class's spell list. The cleric is still tough, fun to play, a competent fighter in a pinch and still has a wide array of useful spells -- but you've eliminated any incentive that munchkins...

    Planar Handbook Preview

I'm afraid the neraph are (like the 3.5e dwarf) just a bit too good for LA +0 -- natural armor +2 is terrific, and the motion camoflauge ability is wonderful if you can sneak attack and really good if you can't.

    Help Build An Uber-Tank!

I'll soon graduate college, but, before I do, I thought I'd run a one-shot with some friends at 20th level, since none of us had seen genuinely high-level play and it seems like a fun thing to experiment with. One of the players is new to D&D (but not roleplaying games in general), and we...

Yet Another Fighter Replacement Called The "Warrior"

Dagnabbit, this took a lot of work. (bump.)

Are the core (PHB) feats enough?

To some extent I certainly agree with you -- to the point that I want to use this opportunity to pimp my "warrior" core class -- an overhauled, modular fighter that incorporates the light/heavy distinction from the AU unfettered and warmain classes and uses a wide array of abilities to...

Are the core (PHB) feats enough?

I mainly agree with people who say that the PH feats are sufficient for most purposes (that is, they're really all you'd need or want in a core-rules publication), but the list really does suffer from a paucity of high-level combat feats. Once fighters get Greater Weapon Specialization at 12th...

Yet Another Fighter Replacement Called The "Warrior"

The class is here. Note that it was originally designed in the context of Arcana Unearthed, to replace the warmain and the unfettered. (That is, to fold both classes into one, very modular class that could effectively model both classes, a mix of each, or wholly different sorts of combat...
