    Are Table Top RPGs Dying?

Also, there has been a move towards skype or google+ gaming using voice over IP. If you're playing a game online like that, PDFs are often more useful than a printed book. Add in tablets and ereaders and you have even less incentives to buy a printed rulebook. As well, you have the internet...

New RPG Company Casting All Women for Genesys

You don't see claiming that something that someone likes in their fantasy art is pornographic and that they are participating in exposing it to non-consenting adults or to minors might just be a bit inflammatory? That they might perceive that as you attacking something they like and responding...

New RPG Company Casting All Women for Genesys

I think the main reason that most men don't rally to such positions is that the approach of feminism has largely excluded them in most of their experiences with it in their lives. Many men see feminism as the idea that you can solve issues affecting two genders by concentrating on one of them...

New RPG Company Casting All Women for Genesys

I don't see how you could not. If someone likes X and you say X is harmful, you've done so. And people will get their backs up and friendly disagreement turns into alienation. I'm trying to let you know why people you are talking about are reacting to you the way they are. They are...

New RPG Company Casting All Women for Genesys

Can it be okay to not be the intended market for a product? I'm not the intended market for a lot of things and if I stumble upon something that's not for me, I put it back down and look at something else. Don't think this just happens because it's a gender issue. Lots of people identify...

Pathfinder 1E Golarion Creation Myths & Worldviews

One of the unanswered questions of the Golarion campaign setting for Pathfinder is the details surrounding the origins of the world/universe/multiverse. None of the gods seem to take credit for it. Talk of origins on Golarion seems to be pretty much non-existent. I think it more plausible...

Obsidian Apocalypse: World of Abaddon now available for FREE!

That pay with a tweet thing is really cool. The document itself is very nice looking. Though I must admit I didn't find the comic book style art to mesh well alongside the painting style art. I'll definitely give it a complete read through tomorrow.

In your opinion, the VERY BEST adventure product to come out in the last two years.

I has the dumb. Sorry about missing that.

In your opinion, the VERY BEST adventure product to come out in the last two years.

EDIT: Oops! Not from the last two years. But I did only run it for the first time in the last two years. I don't suppose that counts... Caverns of Thracia, by Jannell Jaquays (credited as Paul Jaquays) published by The Judges Guild (1979). An excellent example of old school dungeon design.

New RPG Company Casting All Women for Genesys

I think what we're seeing here is a subculture collision. I'm not a cosplayer myself, but I do know a bunch and have helped with some mould making, vacuum forming and props reproductions for some of the local cosplayers. It's a totally different approach to gamer culture than the traditional...

13th Age Discussion: A Love Letter to The Best Parts of D&D

This is pretty awesome. 4E should have add something like this from day 1. Though it does show me that 13th Age might not be for me. I'm getting less and less interested in games that have a hard game mode change when you enter combat and more and more interested in games where you never stop...

Kingmaker AP question: running as goblins creating a goblin nation?

Imagine a land free of dogs. With all the fish you can eat. And still some humans around that you can ride around on while cutting at their ears with a straight razor you found in their house. Ah... a goblin nation.

What is a Wound? An attempt to bridge the divide.

And in Basic and OD&D, the amount of cleric magic available for healing is even lower. Like none at level 1. I know AD&D's sales were definitely fueled by an 80s fad, but from what I understand, 1E still remains the best selling D&D and the 2nd best selling RPG (after the pokemon one that...

What is a Wound? An attempt to bridge the divide.

Remember, Rolemaster started as a product that supplied optional rules modules for AD&D. Similarly, Runequest started as house rules for D&D (it also has more specific wounds and damage by location). So the traditions of these approaches are part of D&D, back to its early years.

Cool. I took a look at your website and like the inked black and white artwork. Any of the stuff in the gallery being used in your new project?

Is this an announcement related to pathfinder that JBE is going to make? Or are you reporting news that Paizo is going to make an announcement?

The (Non-)Playtest Experience, or How the Hit Die Mechanic was a Non-Starter

I don't really accept that change for its own sake is good. Sometimes the way people play is that way because they enjoy it. It makes no sense to change away from enjoyment to non-enjoyment. I think this is a pretty good point. Some people naturally want hits to be actual hits and damage to...

Dear Wizards of the Coast blog post...

I know people want pretty products, but if the copyright of art from decades past is too difficult to navigate, go with artless pdfs. Not as pretty, but faster, easier to layout and it still has the actual game content.

Will the real Mike Mearls please stand up?

I don't really want a return to 90s game design where what the author presents the game as being about one thing but then has rules for supporting other stuff and nothing for what the game is actually about. Rules are useful and following the procedures of a game produces actual consistent play...
