    Stonefang Pass help

That's a good idea. But now they'll have TWO encounters' worth of enemies, which would be too much for them even at full strength. Do I just scrub most of the second encounter? Guess there's nothing really special about that one anyhow. The more important part is talking to the Shadowed Chain...

    Stonefang Pass help

We are in the midst of running HS1: The Orcs of Stonefang pass. My players have managed to get into some trouble and I didn't do a great job of getting them out. They had just successfully defended the Gatehouse and claimed the Grasping Hand. They entered the side hallway to move towards the...

    Skills-based minions

This also creates some interesting RP situations. For example, let's say the King has an Advisor minion that boosts his Insight. When the heroes attempt to convince the King to lend his aid, the Advisor prevents them from successfully Bluffing. And his other inner council can boost his History...

    Fix for healing potions

You can make it even more interesting by making them valuable to the quest giver or community. The son of an sick, aging noble sends them to retrieve the Blood of the Troll, but the heroes may be enticed to use them. Or if you have some really sympathetic players, give them a community in need...

D&D 4E "Point of Light" 4e, Is there a list of all relevant lore?

The number of posts across forums asking for maps, information and details about the Nentir / PoL setting must be indicative of a hunger for the content. WotC may have intended for PoL to be generic, but ppaladin123's point is correct: as they've added more subtle hints, it's become more...

    Fix for healing potions

Perhaps they can earn a stock of a specific reagent that mixes with healing potions to add your desired effect, but the supply is finite or their source is destroyed to avoid the late-level super-healing.

    Engaging the Cobalt (campaign help)

Hi everyone, I'm DM'ing my first campaign and have hit a bit of a block. As a first timer, I've already learned the value of starting small instead of thinking big. I wish I could go back and start over, but now I'm trying to make the best of it. The good news is that my friends are having fun...

    Stonefang Pass: Need Advice/Ideas

If you don't mind some railroading, you can force them into the Stonefang encounter and then have one of the dwarves sacrifice himself via some divine/arcane procedure that revitalizes the heroes and their powers.

    Temple Names

Borrowing from some real-world cultures, here are a few more prompts I've found: - Reference an important location, such as the birthplace or home of a deity or key religious figure. - Reference an important secondary figure related to the deity, like a saint. - Reference an important event...

    Temple Names

Good stuff. This notion is also interesting...a practical location that doubles as a lay space for religious devotion, like a major shipwright's map room that has altars to Melora and Avandra. Some material (IIRC, in the Hammerfast book) mentions these as part of religious facilities, like a...

    Temple Names

I'm looking for good examples of or inspiration for temple names for various core 4E deities. I've grown tired of just "Temple of Erathis", compared to Moonsong Temple (Sehanine) or House of the Sun (Pelor). Any ideas?

    Adventures

Some of the info above is good for random adventures. If you're looking for a wider setting, you should carefully read through the material at the back of the DMG about Fallcrest and the surrounding areas. It gives a lot of good hooks for adventures and there is also the mini/opening adventure...

Time for a new Players Handbook

Did it get them financially lynched? Most people just seem confused about Essentials. I tried explaining it to my players and left them crosseyed.

Campaign Trailer - My players stay out!

I'd love to watch it, but YouTube insists on stopping the video to buffer even though the whole thing has loaded. Vimeo next time? =)

    Cigarette smell on minis

The dry approach is indeed my next effort. Baking soda seems more cost effective than kitty litter/activated charcoal. Thankfully most D&D minis feature such low quality gobbed up paint jobs that I doubt any damage will prove devastating. Worst case scenario, I can try putting them back up on...

    Cigarette smell on minis

Sadly that was the first thing I tried. I liberally Febreze'd a few minis and left them on the windowsill with fresh air blowing in. The odor was masked/contained for a brief period, but wore off after a few minutes.
