If I just want one or two bottles it would have to be Firestoker (if I can find it), taste is wonderful but after a few beers it is a bit to subtle to notice so it's worth moving on to something else. Other favourites are Hobgoblin, London Pride, Speckled Hen, Black Sheep, Waggledance (honey...
One group; no one drinks, no one smokes.
Other group. 2 smokers. 3 rarely drink at the game, other 3 go through a few drinks though that varies on who's GM, what deals are on at the local off licences, phase of the moon etc. Usually between 2 and 4 bottles/cans.
Hang on a sec.... Are...
I think shadowrun might work well. Just give the players adept powers while in the matrix to similate their improved stats, wall running, massive jumps, skills etc.
Oh, and remove rigging, cyberware, non adept magic and (ironically) the matrix
The shadowrun (3rd ed) condition box system works well, with a gain of experience not giving you more boxes, just more Karma rerolls to avoid the damage in the first place.
The Ars magica (4th)/old world of darkness damage level would come in a close second. (They are both somewhat similar.)
Ah. That explains so much. I had wondered why one cup of coffee hit me so much harder than a constant flow of tea. I was beginning to think it was psychosomatic.
Thanks for the info.
For things to do:
There is a successfull enemy escalade and their commander orders them to blunt the attack and fight their way along the wall to the ladders/seige tower to drive the enemy from the wall before the fort is over run. The enemy commander is unlikely to be leading such a suicidal...
Your first pt.
Armour on dex. It does make a difference but not neccesarily dirrectly. Most "dodging" is just stepping back out of a swing or a sidestep around a thrust so as long as the legs are mobile armour wouldn't
make too much difference. I found the first time I fought in mail down to...
GM vs players I don't think should be adversarial, the GM controls the world and will
always win.
PvP though can be fun, there is nothing more challenging for a player than going head to
head with another player knowing it's no holds bared, no mercy and they really are
trying to get you...
Personally I don't mind that I think 4e is rubbish as 3.5 had a good enough run that there are enough books to keep me going. Even better, when 4e came out I got to pick up lots of books I wouldn't have otherwise bothered with as they were dirt cheap. More that enough to soften
the blow of...
If he had some illusion magic and the waters are well traveled he may be able to bring food to him. Illusions of sirens and amazons, while cliched, could work to bring in weak minded sailors. When you want them to return these illusions could lead to stories being told in port taverns of...
With the 1 encounter a day mentality I'm finding my warlock rather weak. He's fine when facing lots of encounters with hordes but our GM doesn't like to do that, he preferes one big encounter against one or two big brusers a day. I use maximise spell like ability feat with PBS to kick out 25...
Something I noticed on the news that may interest anyone running a game of Conspiracy X and the like and looking for ideas.
The MoD have released some previously secret documents on UFO reports and investigations etc from 86 - 92, they are available on line through the national archives:
UFO...
I wasn't actually thinking divine magic being the only proof. (I've read to many fantasty novels where the priests were all secretly wizards).
I was more thinking people going to the afterlife and coming back, planar travel and that only those who seem to follow a faith can manifest certain...
If we are taking a Eurocentric medievel look at things:
Historically the church had an incredable amount of power and influence, vast wealth through donations and land owned by them and tended to by monks and nuns, compulsory tithing and near total obedience. Threats of excomunication and fear...
The shield only overlaps the shield on the right and is overlaped in turn by the shield on the left. Any pressure on the shield is spread between the shield hit and the one on the right. That makes it efficient but not unbreakable.
I don't remember if the shields were overlapping as much...
I think it was a saxon shield wall but it was a long time ago (12 years I think). The shields did overlap, the horse just knocked them aside, it wasn't going full pace by any stretch but it had the strenght to knock a hole in the line then the line after it it more sort of pushed through.
