    Opinions on the non-PHB races?

Naw, Star Trek's most defining features are being whitebread and poorly thought out. That gives it way more in common with the Forgotten Realms than Eberron.

    Opinions on the non-PHB races?

I like the Warforged conceptually. They have a few balance issues I agree, but giving them darkvision and a bonus feat from a short list would bring them up to speed. As is they really are noticeably weaker than the PHB races. People drasticly overvalue their advantages, and ignore their...

My Gut Reaction to Book of Nine Swords

And what do you do when these mere mortals are supposed to be the the peers and companions of people who can stop time and call eathquakes, who can call the angels from the heavens and the devils from the hells and bind them into service, who can call down fire that slays armies or kill with a...

    Artificer + Maug Fighter

Maug are built to be frontline types, but between their -Con and their high LA they never have enough HP to function in that role. Combine that with the fact that Constucts don't get a 10 HP cushion between 0 HP and ceasing to be, and you might want to look into a character that will be fun to...

Is it a good idea to pull a lever in a dungeon?

Explain to me why it makes sense from a security standpoint to put trapped levers in your dungeon. It doesn't, trapped levers make sense only as a metagame constuct, and very little even as that.

    DM's forfeit power

DMing Castles and Crusades is like building a skyscraper on a foundation made from butterscotch pudding.

Does the Rakshasa have a too-high CR?

I too would like to see a Rakasha that can, appropriately modified, model Ghatotkacha. Though I would argue as much of his power is inherited from his father as his mother. I think we can both agree that if the Rakasha is to be revised, it should be done with at least a cursory familiarity with...

Does the Rakshasa have a too-high CR?

And yet can D&D rakshasa cannot be Hidimba, they can only be that guy from that episode of Kolchak the night stalker. You don't see this as a problem?

Does the Rakshasa have a too-high CR?

More often a Rakasha is a dim witted brute living in the woods, demanding trbute from unprotected villages and devouring travelers.

Spiked Chains: Pure cheese or sometimes OK?

because you want to disarm and trip foes, or because you want to take weapon specific feats and won't be able to change up weapons anyway.

Does the Rakshasa have a too-high CR?

I've long wanted D&D to have Rakasha closer to the source material. They're one of the precious few races of nonhuman mook hordes in myth.

Spiked Chains: Pure cheese or sometimes OK?

I wouldn't say that, if you used that house rule it wouldn't be overall better than any of the martial reach weapons and Short Haft, but it wouldn't be worse than them either, just different.

    A change to mobility

I already picked B as not everyone who would learn it is an apropriate character for tumbling. I wouldn't want non-tumbler to have to eat a completly dead feat after dodge to get to the money feats of the tree. SotS those skill's DCs are set with the expectation that you are going to be able to...

    A change to mobility

How about: MOBILITY [GENERAL] Prerequisites: Dex 13, Dodge. Benefit: You get a +4 dodge bonus to Armor Class against attacks of opportunity caused when you move out of or within a threatened area. A condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose...

Spiked Chains: Pure cheese or sometimes OK?

If Short Haft simply allowed you to threaten and attack adjacent squares without giving up reach, you'd see alot fewer spiked chains.

Spiked Chains: Pure cheese or sometimes OK?

Dannyalcatraz, a mallet or sledge needs only to hit an unmoving target under no split second time pressure, a weapon has much greater needs as far as fast precise control i.e. wieldiness. if you think a morningstar is anything like as masive or unbalanced as a sledge you really need to do some...

Spiked Chains: Pure cheese or sometimes OK?

Less so than you'd think, there's a minimum weight for a suficientl sturdy shaft, a maximum weight before the weapon is too unwieldy for one hand. I've never seen or heard of a fighting chain without a weighted striking end, excepting certain improvised weapons. And as Tetsubo pointed out...
